Le transporteur ferroviaire Canadien Pacifique (CP) annonce qu'elle met en vente un joyau immobilier, voulant se départir de la gare Windsor et d'actifs connexes à Montréal.

 

var nsteinWords;nsteinWords = unescape('');La compagnie explique ce matin qu'elle lance un appel d'offres qui lui permettra de pleinement évaluer ce que la gare peut générer comme transaction. Le processus durerait de 12 à 18 mois.

 

Le CP cherche avant tout à réduire les dépenses permanentes d'exploitation.

 

Avec cette décision, plusieurs parcelles de terrain dont l'immeuble à bureaux et le jardin cour de la gare, la tour Windsor et l'espace appartenant au CP dans le parc de stationnement du Centre Bel pourront être vendus.

 

Toutefois, le Canadien Pacifique entend maintenir sa présence sur les lieux avec 380 employés. Il louerait au nouveau propriétaire 79 000 pieds carrés de locaux.

 

L'acheteur potentiel ne pourra pas faire n'importe quoi avec la gare. Elle a été désignée en tant que monument historique, mais aussi de «gare patrimoniale» en vertu de la Loi sur la protection des gares ferroviaires patrimoniales.

 

L'action du CP a clôturé à 78,50 $ mardi à Toronto.

yes and no, but this will also mean that some vacant and underperforming buildings/lots will be sold to people who want to develop them, not like the CP who just lay them there underused.

CJAD news has learned Canadiens owner George Gillett has purchased historic Windsor Station.

There's no word on the purchase price, or what he plans to do with it.

 

Windsor Station served as the city's main train station until the late 1970s, when Central Station took over. It continued to serve as a commuter train terminal, until the Bell Centre was built in the 1990s. It was then replaced by what's now known as the Lucien L'Allier station.

I think that George Jr. and GEG in general have had a positive impact on the city of Montreal. In that respect, whatever Gillett decides to do with Windsor Station will most likely be good news.

I agree...I just hope that the Nimby's won't come out in full force to hinder his plans!
