He told me that they're discussing a second phase, but obviously it won't come anytime soon.

Enalung Posté(e) 25 février 2018 Partager Posté(e) 25 février 2018 (modifié) That makes 2 of us. I wonder what kind of alignment they would choose for the A-15 corridor. Personally, I would use the existing train line and just convert it. It somewhat Bypasses Laval's city center, but it's near enough that I don't see that as a major problem. On the north shore, it's in a much more convenient location right in the middle of the developed zone. I would do away with with the U which goes from Parc station to to Lucien-L'allier and dig a new tunnel strait under Parc Avenue. By providing another direct route, It would somewhat reduce the pressure on the orange line. From Bonaventure, I would keep digging under the St-Lawrence, have a stop at the Casino and then go join the Mont-Saint-Hilaire line on the south shore. It would effectively join both line into one single line stretching from Saint-Jérome all the way to Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Yes, I know that we are talking a very long 10km tunnel between the Park and Saint-Lambert station as well as several underground stations and the needed access shafts. (My measurement are from station to station and do not account for the tunnel having to rise back up to ground level on the south shore, so it would likely be somewhat longer than 10 km.) Yes, it would be expensive, but I beleive it is worth it.There are some gaps, but most of the corridor is heavily urbanised and there are already parking facilities, stations, and some space to work with along most of the right of way. It would make a big difference for peoples living on the south or north shore and who have to commute to Montreal, or even, all the way to the other shore. I also don't think that the REM will help much with the capacity problems on the orange line. It's just too far west for a lot of peoples. montrealgoalie Posté(e) 25 février 2018 Partager Posté(e) 25 février 2018 That's very similar to one of the plans I had made, but instead it was the yellow line that was turned into a REM and went up parc then hopped onto the existing st-jerome line rails. There's a lot of possibilities and hopefully they're serious about the next phase of the REM, as well as finishing up with the existing plans of metro extensions. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mmJotHMtL-CTQy78cwBNf1V2SVRT4KVK&usp=sharing This is a big mumbo jumbo map of ideas I've had. Emphasis on the yellow line REM Citer Lien vers le commentaire Partager sur d’autres sites

montrealgoalie Posté(e) 25 février 2018 Partager Posté(e) 25 février 2018 I agree I don't think it will have a big impact on the orange line. It may take a little pressure off of Cote Vertu metro but that's about it. It does absolutely nothing for the east branch of the orange line Citer Lien vers le commentaire Partager sur d’autres sites

It does absolutely nothing for the east branch of the orange line Je crois qu'il y aura un effet limité si la tarrification est harmonisé avec le métro.

Your lane configurations are different, but for the most part, we choose the same right of way, As a side note, the last station on the orange line in Laval is pointing westward, so that line of yours is impossible.
