  1. Pour moi, c'est l'émission de “must-see-TV” des années 80 avec le violeur récemment libéré.
  2. Do the multi-million dollar brownstone townhouses in New York have big backyards??

  4. Can we finally put to rest the idea of spending another half billion dollars on this absolutely pointless stadium now? Move Drapeau’s relics to a tomb where the cauldron used to be, seal up the stadium and let it be a mausoleum.
  5. 4h45 via Ottawa 🤦🏻‍♂️
  6. I was never talking about Ottawa. That said, I was under the impression that Toronto-Ottawa and Ottawa-Montreal were separate legs of the system. AFAIK it will still be a direct route from Montreal to Toronto. If people are forced to go to Ottawa to get to Toronto, then I predict nobody will choose the train over a plane or bus or car.

  8. Well, if it’s not delayed by freights, it’s nominally around 5:15 with eight stops. VIA can still do milk runs on the CN route, but a TGF will likely only stop at Dorval, Kingston, and Oshawa, so somewhere around 3h45 is more likely. Now, what I’d like to hear in an eventual announcement is a set of dedicated passenger tracks parallel to the mainlines between Centrale and Vaudreuil (Dorion) to be shared with RTM, and RTM fully acquiring the Westmount Sub and the Vaudreuil portion of theMontreal Ottawa line. I can dream on yeah. Oh well. I can see this happening, and it’ll be more proof that we simply have no desire to things properly.
  9. Ce n’est pas juste toi 😄 On a parlé déjà de la ligne 9 à Barcelone, construite surtout par tunnelier, avec ses stations presque entièrement dans la voûte du tunnel. source
  10. For sure it’s cheaper to prune back vigorous vines than to remediate graffiti 🤷🏻‍♂️

  12. That wall along the bike path is friggin horrible. A real bémol.

I'm quite certain won’t see moving block signalling on the existing Métro lines in my lifetime, so forget about higher frequencies on the yellow line. Could the tracks be fully segregated with a wall? Sure, that’s what’s being done in the MR tunnel for REM-A. Getting this done on the Orange line really depends on the will to do it, along with the cost and required effort, versus the anticipated gains in frequency and capacity. We don’t need platform doors for full automation (see: SkyTrain, or much of Singapore’s MRT until just a few years ago), but it’s advisable. Heck, IMO platform doors are advisable on the Orange line even without full automation.

72 seconds for REM-A, even better! Yes, that was my understanding about the Blue extension, and I’m interested that you’re confirming the new stations will be full-length — suggesting that the CBTC project will be extended to use of the MPM-10 on the line. I look forward to whatever future info you’ll be permitted to divulge to us. 🙂

I don’t disagree with that at all. IMO the capacity on A will be adequate (as long as they don’t try to squeeze more branches into it). They can go to 90-second headways at some point if needed, and if really necessary in the future (when all the TODs are developed in the West Island), the airport branch could be converted to a shuttle with a fairly straightforward changes at BF, allowing higher frequencies on the Anse and DM branches. But I also believe CDPQi was fairly conservative in its ridership estimates for A, which is why I’m puzzled by the limitations presented for B.

I think 100 m trainsets and platforms would have been ideal for REM-A, with capacity upgrades somewhere down the road by using double-deck EMUs similar to RER’s 2Ns or Sydney’s A/B sets. I’m not a fan of using a light metro type on a regional service, but for now its capacity is adequate. The trouble with the REM-B proposal — apart from all the other questionable decisions — is the lack of compatibility with REM-A. Even if the rolling stock at launch uses the same sets as A running in single two-car units, if REM-A ever upgrades down the road to a more RER-style train, it won’t be usable on B.

Ah oui! Des lignes qui transportent des centaines de milliers de passagers par jour! RER-A à ~1,2 millions même! Il n'y a absolument aucun besoin de cela ici, même dans les rêves les plus fous du railfan le plus optimiste.

250 metre trains? Lol 100% d’accord. Je l'ai dit à maintes reprises depuis que la proposition a été annoncée.
  19. This belongs in another thread: I’m ok with seniors getting a discount as they always have, but there should be a huge discount for everybody under 25 — students or not. Students, for obvious reasons, but also those who didn’t pursue post-secondary education (or perhaps partially completed, or a three-year CEGEP program) who are entering the workforce (and contributing to the economy and the tax base) and aren’t exactly making big money yet.
  20. Why are we West Islanders so cynical? 😂😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️
