  1. the 80’s renovation on the east side of the building shoulb be removed i believe that was one a hotel it needs to be cleaned up and restored could look very Manhattan-like
  2. if any place needs electric signage like on Times Sq it would be here on the Police Station and on Complexe desJardins making this public plaza the heart of cultural Montreal
  3. it takes me a long time to get from Old Montreal into Pl Bonaventure maze and underground to eventually ever find my way to the Metro or to Central Station. REM cannot imagine people from Old Mtl or visitors to Palais des Congrès using Bonaventure as a station. Locating along the new Bonaventure entrance and park is convenient for a larger clientele
  4. They could put the AirBnB logo instead of CH on top
  5. it would make more sense for the station to be built within the batiment-pont since the new skyscrapers are being developed near Sq Victoria. This would create a much more vibrant area for the new Bonaventure Blvd. There are a lot of residents and workers who share the axis along this corridor Old Mtl / Cité Int’l / Multimédia / Griffintow versus having the station at the foot of Peel Street which has much lower density. In the future when developments are built a station could be located closer to Pte St Charles
  6. I don’t understand why a Northern city cannot figure a way to use waste water from buildings to heat sidewalks/pedestrian zones. Seeing the crusted ice kills it for me.
  7. not crazy about the window/balcony side.
  8. it’s not so much about the bridge design rather a link between the city on the islands that is simpler
  9. Looks good the city should require that the first 5 to 8 floors of projects use high quality stone and not prefab - above they could switch to prefab matching the stone
  10. A pedestrian/bicycle link between Vieux-Port and Cité du havre would be an amazing addition to Montreal’s green space accessibility. Example: Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which caters to both cyclists and pedestrians - world’s first tilting bridge - would allow cruise ships to enter the old port.
  11. Hopefully they will have a voice when comes the time to destroy/rebuild of The Met. More residents nearby will maybe influence a tunnel. The Big Dig (which by the way shoukd be done at the same time and incorporate the Metro Blue Line)
  12. Park Ave in the Ghetto and deBleury hill must be the ugliest Downtown Montreal area.
  13. perfect spot for the REM station Love it
  14. I am referring to the yellow brick building shown in earlier posts. i understand they are preserving some of the stones the new CHUM in my opinion is a monster of cheap cladding. it photographs very well from certain angles - certain parts are very nice - but overall leaves me disappointed
  15. in the future i think we willl look back and regret trashing parts of this building
  16. i would love to see the Funiculaire use Peel Street from Place du Canada all the way up to Le Chalet The street is a traffic nightmare, closing it completely to pedestrian and funiculaire would create a mega tourist destination for Montreal - imagine going up direct from downtown to the top of Mont-Royal. Another interesting passage would be a streetcar from Phillip’s Square to de la Commune / McGill. in any case I love your ideas
  17. mtlurb should vote on the best and worst projects by categories and announce these so that our voices can be heard very much like Prix Citron / Orange that Heritage Montreal does getting more people aware of design and architecture can have an impact - especially today with social media or forums like this this project should get a major thumbs up and it seems the majority of members who are active appreciate the results the promoter, builder, architects should know we appreciate and beware to those who trash our city i did not know where to post this ... sorry
  18. An exoskeleton architectural tower next to Tour de la bourse would be awesome. here is Zaha Hadid’s current Miami project
  19. looks like Symphony Tower in Atlanta.
  20. is there a home depot for skyscraper developers? all have the same mediocre finish
