I just called the police - obviously, 311 does not work on a holiday weekend - they all live in the burbs or Villeray with Valerie. we can start to say goodbye to the Fairy Land bldg another broken window the woodwork (which were amazing throughout the lobby and bldg) have been burnt down it is so sad to see this city become nothing more than Detroit streets are dirty, architectural jewels are abandonned, politicians and builders trying to make a quick buck, corruption -
The prefab is horrible. What a legacy we leave behind.

Titanic had the best lunch in old Montreal. FYI: the building being renovated was home to André Boisclair

Sad the only interesting architecture in the immediate area - the surrounding towers are so horrible.

It sounds like CN is the one putting the brakes on such a great project. QC, MTL & CDN Governments are slow. -

worth preserving and possibly moving so we can appreciate By Fritz Brandtner A bas-relief on Central Station that few Montrealers have seen since it was blocked by construction of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in 1958. There is another bas-relief of Mercury at the other end. These magnificent designs, at least ten feet long, used to be visible from the old Dorchester Street. Now they can only be photographed at an angle through very dirty windows in the staircases on either end of the station. The Mercury bas-relief has had some large tube place across it but fortunately is was not marred. If one walks under the skylight in the new food court in Central Station, these bas-reliefs are right above you but they cannot be seen because the skylight has frosted glass. We hope to get access to the space above the skylight to get some good photos. -

Could they not install led panels on the ceiling so that it could somehow be a huge flatscreen? The effect would be amazing. -

Kitsch maybe, but the Avis building (if the facade was spray washed) is so Mid century. and the man-elevators are worth the view

What downtown Montreal needs is a major food market (Atwater Market) - where is everyone buying their food? The current grocery stores are sad and badly located. I remember the basement at Simpson’s and not too far one Ste Catherine there was a good grocery store. Bring a Milano or Eataly, a Trader Joe’s, a Whole Foods. Is there not enough residents of all these new condos to justify a return to downtown of good food? -

Berri étant le centre des transports du centre ville - on ne place pas au dessus un HLM - ridicule - une perte totale d’emplacement stratégique pour un bâtiment culturel ou institutionnel faute d’espace bureau. Manque de vision. -

New York City Cleaning Laws and Sidewalk Rule: Cleaning Laws: Sidewalks & Adjacent Areas Enforcement Routing Residential Premise Enforcement Routing Under the Enforcement Routing Program, enforcement agents patrol all areas including commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and residential blocks at specified times focusing on violations for dirty sidewalks, dirty areas, and failure to clean 18 inches into the street. During the enforcement routing time, when enforcement agents observe a dirty sidewalk, or an 18-inch violation in front of or adjacent to a residential premise, a Notice of Violation (NOV) will be issued. Although enforcement agents will issue Notices of Violation for dirty sidewalk, dirty area, or failure to clean 18 inches into the street only during the specified 2 one-hour daily enforcement routing time periods, they may issue notices for all other violations at any time. Residential enforcement routing times citywide have been set as follows: 8:00 AM to 8:59 am and 6:00 pm to 6:59 pm Fine: $50 (1st Offense); $100 (2nd and subsequent Offenses) Commercial Premise Enforcement Routing Under the Enforcement Routing Program, enforcement agents patrol all commercial and industrial blocks at specified times focusing on violations for dirty sidewalks and failure to clean 18 inches into the street. During the enforcement routing time, when enforcement agents observe a dirty sidewalk or an 18-inch violation in front of or adjacent to a commercial or industrial premise, a Notice of Violation will be issued. Although enforcement agents will issue notices for dirty sidewalk or failure to clean 18 inches into the street violations only during the specified 2 one-hour daily enforcement routing time periods, they may issue notices for all other violations at any time. Although the commercial routing times vary by Sanitation District/ Section where the business is located, all commercial premises should be maintained (the sidewalk and the area 18 inches from the curb) at the beginning and end of the day. This makes good business sense and helps keep the community clean. For more information about the specific commercial enforcement routing times for a particular location, call the NYC Customer Service Center at 311. SIDEWALK RULE Sidewalks should be free of cracks or holes and have an even surface. NYC relies on property owners to maintain the sidewalk adjacent to their property, including repairs and removal of snow, ice, or debris. Property owners are responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining sidewalks adjoining their properties (Section 19-152 of New York City's Administrative Code). Property owners are potentially liable for personal injuries caused by their failure to maintain the sidewalk free of defects (Section 7-210 of the New York City’s Administrative Code). We encourage property owners to perform repairs to their sidewalk before a condition becomes a defect which may result in a Notice of Sidewalk Violation. -
