Instead of raving and ranting like a looney, can you give us some concrete examples of what we should do to improve the situation? I almost get the impression that you didn't watch the short video posted by MTLskyline. It was very interesting. Libman points out that the Ciyt can't do everything by itself. The City(as the economic engine of the province) needs help from the provincial gov't. The Liberals don't do much for MOntreal cause they know that they have Montreal in their back pocket, and the PQ doesn'T do much for Montreal cause they know they won't ever gain any support here.

With a little help from the provincial gov't, Montreal could do alot better!

Im talking about that guy on your clip.

Oh! Sorry dude!

I agree that we should look to the future. Things are looking good for Montreal for the next few years, I just wish that the City and the Prvincial gov't could have beter relations to help MOntreal grow even more!

Nothing is going to change?

I've only lived here for the past two years, as a student, but I remember vividly my visits to Montreal in the mid-to-late 90s. Do you remember--at all-- what Maisonneuve and Ste Catherine looked like in the wake of the referendum? I was around all of ten years old at the time, but I was still conscious of the economic plight of downtown.

One can agree that the provincial deadlock between the PLQ and the PQ isn't helpful, but to suggest that the city is incapable of changing its own situation shows a terrible ignorance of both the past decade and the nature of Montreal's economy.

I'm from NJ. What makes Montreal so entrancing to me isn't these mega-projects or building statistics; hell, if I wanted that, I could just take the train in to Manhattan, as I did every weekend back in the US. Montreal's beauty lies in the fact that the people here are wonderful; the city glows with a sort of vibrancy that is INCREDIBLY rare.

If you want to see incredibly swift, impressive development, you can always visit Toronto. Would you ever even consider living there, though?

Through all the bureaucratic bullshit, Montreal maintains a quality of life that is indescribable and that cannot be replicated anywhere else, no matter how many cranes you have towering over the skyline.
