Montrealers have long been jealous of friends and family in B.C. and Ontario who have the stores already and company co-chief executive John Mackey, in town for the C2-Mtl conference, dangled the juicy promise of a location in our fair city. The only possible glitch in their plans could be the union question: Quebec is one of the most unionized provinces in the country and Whole Foods has been able, so far, to dodge the union issue. One could only hope, if they do open Loblaws (now being rebranded as Provigo) and Metro will finally serve a better assortment of warm meals.
