The campground would feature Otentik tents which sport wooden bases and canvas roofs. Conventional tents, trailers and RV's would not be permitted. The Metro newspaper says potential users could include boaters who moor in the locks nearby. The deadline for submissions is April 18.

Je pense que le baseball peut fonctionner à Montreal avec un stade de 35-40k personnes. Aussi, le récent playoffs des Blue Jays a été contagieux. Je suis persuadé que le NFL réussirai aussi. Il n'y que 8 match à domicile. Je crois sincèrement qu'on peut remplir un stade de 60k personnes. Imaginez combien d'américains de Vermont, New-York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, etc viendront voir un match ici à Montreal? Mini roadtrip de week-end parfait pour eux!

Le gouvernement «a une responsabilité historique» face à la bâtisse qui a été mise en vente, mais également «une indépendance», a-t-elle fait valoir en mêlée de presse, mercredi. Ultimement, il reviendra donc à la société d’État de prendre une décision après avoir étudié «tous les scénarios» concernant l’avenir de la tour, a insisté Mme Joly. Lorsqu’on lui a demandé si, comme titulaire du ministère du Patrimoine, elle jugeait que la tour devrait rester debout ou si elle avait une valeur patrimoniale, elle n’a pas voulu commenter. «Pour nous, vraiment, le plus important c’est que ça soit un milieu de travail de qualité, qui puisse répondre aux besoins du numérique», a-t-elle offert. Le Syndicat des communications de Radio-Canada (SCRC) a demandé il y a un mois l’intervention du gouvernement fédéral afin qu’il ordonne à la haute direction de la société d’État de mettre de côté son plan de vendre son siège social dans l’est de Montréal. La présidente du SCRC, Johanne Hémond, a dit trouver tout à fait «incompréhensible» de voir la haute direction s’«acharner» à vouloir vendre un patrimoine appartenant à tous les Canadiens alors que le nouveau gouvernement réinvestit dans le diffuseur public. La ministre Joly s’est justement réjouie mercredi de l’injection d’une somme de 675 millions $ sur cinq ans pour Radio-Canada, confirmée mardi dans le budget du ministre des Finances, Bill Morneau. «Ça fait 30 ans qu’il n’y a pas eu un investissement aussi important en arts et en culture et on peut même dire qu’on est un des seuls pays au monde à investir aussi massivement en arts et en culture, alors on est très content», a-t-elle affirmé après la réunion du caucus libéral.

The project to bring a Major League Baseball team back to Montreal is still on track, but it’s too soon to make any announcements, the main players said on Wednesday. Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, and Richard Epstein, partner with business law firm BCF, who are working behind the scenes with investors to create a business plan necessary for the return of the Expos, highlighted the importance of not tipping their hand, even if journalists present at a news conference about the upcoming Toronto Blue Jays/Boston Red Sox preseason games wanted to know more. “It’s not because I’m not telling you everything that people aren’t talking,” Coderre said. “Don’t ask me to give you the status of our negotiations. You know, we have met, we have talked and there’s work that’s going on. There are steps to take. “There’s serious work that’s being done. But we must take into account all the realities — infrastructure, investors, MLB’s plans — it’s not up to me to tell them how to do it.” Meanwhile, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said a new expansion — he wants to expand to 32 teams — won’t happen before the renewal of the collective agreement, which is up next December. “So there’s no use in talking about financing a stadium today,” Coderre said. But he essentially repeated what he said a year ago, that it would take a new stadium and serious investors. “We have to do serious work. You won’t make the news every day with this. I won’t be negotiating in public.” Coderre and Epstein were not worried about financing from the provincial and federal governments, even if for now they’ve closed the door to financing professional sports. “Certainly we need a partnership, but I haven’t asked anything of Ottawa,” Coderre said. “You can’t look at this (the means of financing a stadium) like in the past. There are ways to work together. “Resources don’t just mean money. … But we’re not ready to have this debate, because the fruit hasn’t ripened. We are not at that stage yet. But it’s been 30 years that I’ve been in politics; I know public opinion well enough to know when it will be ready for us to have this discussion.” In March 2015, Manfred said it would take a “solid plan” for baseball to return to the city. In an interview with La Presse this month, Manfred added that a lack of support for baseball from governments “would clearly not be a positive aspect.” “If we thought this was not achievable, we would not be working on this project,” Epstein said. “We see the possibilities that, we believe, are very favourable for governments, for the population, for amateurs and investors in this project.” And just like fans, who bought 106,000 tickets for the two games, the excitement from the business community is high. “With the progression of our project, with each brick that we lay, it gives us more credibility in the business community, which is always very favourable,” Epstein said. “It’s more appropriate that interested people stay in the shadows; the project has not advanced sufficiently. As long as we’re not ready to say that we’ll have a team, these people won’t publicly state their intention to put money in this project.” In Cuba on Tuesday for a preseason match between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cuban national team, the commissioner once again noted that he hopes to “establish a second team in Canada” without specifying Montreal, which he has discussed many times since becoming commissioner in January 2015. “It’s encouraging,” Epstein said. “When you hear from everywhere positive comments, it’s clear that it helps us. If he said it’s impossible that we could have a team, that would be devastating.” Coderre believes the next step for Montreal would be to get regular-season matches, which he believes would be possible as of 2017. MLB’s plans in this regard have not yet been revealed.

Engineers were saying the façade would have to be torn down and reconstructed. The inspector ordered support beams be erected to support the structure. Projet Montréal leader Luc Ferrandez said the city administration’s cuts to municipal employees, in particular building inspectors, directly resulted in Mount Stephen Club’s troubles.

Who cares what floor they're on, how fast or slow they're going, whether the building will be 37 or 42 floors, if that includes lobby and/or penthouse. It's really out of our control, it makes no difference to our lives and it doesn't matter. Like it's insane how much it doesn't matter. Get a grip people.

Very interesting proposition that jesse brought up! In theory, it would take the same time to do Montreal-Toronto via hyperloop than Mississauga-Toronto via the GO train , and even less time than further cities in the gta like Oakville, Hamilton, Markham, etc via the GO train. Toronto salaries and opportunity for advancement, means more disposable income spent in Montreal while living in Montreal (all else being equal). What effects do you guys think this will have on the Montreal job market though? It would probably weaken it? Why work here when I could go fetch an extra 10-20k over there for the same job?
