  2. wtf...please don`t go down that slippery slope.....architecture ....not politics.....
  3. Short video. City to demolish and rebuild Van Horne Rosemont overpass | Watch News Videos Online
  4. The city of Montreal announced Sunday that it plans to tear down and rebuild the ageing Van Horne-Rosemont overpass and is launching a contest to determine what the new bridge will look like.
  5. Good day Yara, Like you, I’ve been on this site, mtlurb.com, since the beginning (2007) and I was on Skyscraperpage.com and Skyscrapercity.com way before that. I peruse it at least 1 time daily. I read the comments and I am very happy when new projects are announced and I enjoy looking at posted photos of works in progress. There are pessimists on all these boards. People like Rico Rommheim and Rocco just to name a couple. I use to let it get to me and respond in kind. As we get older we deal with these people differently. You learn to ignore them. They are instigators that yearn attention. They rarely have valid points and they are plain shit disturbers as you said. So I am going to enjoy my visits on http://www.mtlurb.com and participate in the discussions and contribute with new announcements, scoops and photos when possible. To all the members of Mtlurb.com have a great day and a great start to 2017!!!!!
  6. That's okay. I just can't see that lot being empty for very long......Babylone or not something will spring out sooner or later!!!
  7. Hey folks, do you notice the lot next door which was supposed to be the Babylone. Are those barriers and construction equipment that I see for a possible start on a new project or is it stored there for the YUL??????? :begging:
  8. If this project is dead then we are being run by a bunch of non-visionaries that cling on to bygone eras for no reason but their own selfish agendas I do not believe that the Alcan House built in the 1980's is of a great significant value..This Lemay design seems to me to be a signature building. Anyways have a look-see. The redevelopment of the Alcan House office complex revitalizes an entire city block in a sector of Montreal which has lost some of its former appeal. Lemay developed a concept that draws on the upscale history of the neighbourhood and its unique location at the edge of the business district. The new project features an iconic contemporary tower and a diversified, modern downtown campus that showcases the architectural heritage of the site.
  9. Well looks like this project is getting a start....A sales office is being built on the site....So let's be positive , digging starts in the spring 2017???
  10. I count 24 floors including the concrete elevator shafts that protrude in the middle. So if my count is correct and the tower has a total of 28 floors we are looking at an additional 3 to 4 floors to be added. Of course depending on the total of 28....does 28 include a 13th floor and does 28 floors also include underground floors?? Let's wait and see....
  11. For the longest time I have not ranted at any blatant ignorant stupid xenophobic comments on thiis board. But this time I agree with Mark-ac...Why is everything always about McGill and immigrants that have lots of money and then they go to Toronto...... Well maybe instead of adding to the stupidity of xenophobic rhetoric, maybe, just maybe Rocco, you can offer some solutions for keeping the Montréalais de souche in the city core. Why do you talk about Toronto. Have you been there lately are you very familiar as to how Toronto is developing are the Torontonians de souche living downtown or are they also in the suburbs. Oh yeah maybe I screwed up...I guess the only people de souche come from the French Quebecois population...It seems to me that this de souche is sort of another way of differentiating the French Québecois from the rest of us...the trash of society..Afterall we don't pay taxes...we have never done anything useful in Québec and all we do is sponge off of thje efforts of the forever exploited Québecois de souche....Give it up it's a tired argument. Remember there are over 300,000 former French Québecois de souche ( as you call them) living in the GTA ... Hmmm I guess they moved a little further than Lorraine or Blainville. Maybe they finally realized what a basket case Québec is and decided it was time to move....Oh and yes they should be considered traitors and are no longer Québecois de souche...they lost that descriptor when they left this société distincte.
  12. MONTREAL, July 6, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Technoparc Montreal is pleased to present its activity report of 2015 via its annual report. The annual report describes the activities of 2015, a definite year of building! During the year, three major industrial projects (amongst the largest in Greater Montreal) were launched. These projects are the installation of the North American headquarters of Green Cross Biotherapeutics, the installation of ABB's Canadian headquarters and the construction of Vidéotron's 4Degrés data centre. These three major projects can be added to the list of companies that have chosen to locate their activities at the Technoparc. According to an analysis conducted by E&B DATA in 2015, the future construction of the new buildings at the Technoparc will generate $580 million to Quebec's GDP, $109 million to Quebec's public administration revenues and $37 million to federal public administration revenues. According to Carl Baillargeon, Technoparc Montreal's Director – Communications & Marketing "These projects represent the creation of more than 1,000 new jobs at the Technoparc, an investment of $400 million and the addition of 600 000 square feet to the real estate inventory. These are indeed excellent news for the economy of Montreal and the province of Quebec. This also confirms Technoparc's role as an important component of the economical development. In addition, the recent announcement of the proposed Réseau Électrique Métropolitain (electric train) by the CDPQ Infra, in which a station is planned at the Technoparc, reinforces the strategic location of the site and will thereby facilitate the access to the site via transportation means other than the car. " Technoparc Montréal is a non-profit organization that provides high-tech companies and entrepreneurs with environments and real-estate solutions conducive to innovation, cooperation and success. For more information, please see the website at http://www.technoparc.com. 13.
  14. OSTIE QUE C'EST GRIS!! WTF!! What kind of comment is that?? This is Vancouver, considered as one of the best looking cities in the world!! It is almost monochrome, so it is not the colors that matter that much. It is the proportion, the quality of design, the quality of materials and the integration of buildings into their surroundings!!! Enjoy the building boom, hope for some real gems, hopefully it continues for another 20 years!!!
  15. So as I mentioned back in Nov. 2015, the windows will be redone!! http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/expanded-trudeau-airport-wing-to-offer-a-sense-of-the-city Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport has a new international wing, with “bigger,” “better” and “Montreal-branded” being the catchwords of the day when it was unveiled Tuesday. "Cherry said improvements to the airport are expected to continue through 2020. The ramp leading to the airport, the green-tinted glass façade and the multi-level parking garage are all in need of repairs."
  16. Absolutely right the 1250 René Levesque (IBM-Marathon Tower) was originally planned at 72 stories then they brought down to 47 or whatever it is! Le 1000 de la Gauchetière sits on site where an 80 storey La Bonaventure Tower had been planned. SO maybe, just maybe these along with others would have been built!! who knows !!
  17. Well some big announcement will be coming down the pipes in the near future. Apparently Mayrand foods on the Metropolitan is moving to much bigger digs on Louis H. Lafontaine. I have it from good sources that the entire area that is covered by Mayrand and that hideous building with all the discount outlets and United Gym will be razed to make way for a mega development of condo towers and other office buildings. It is going to add to the satelite town center in the east that will also give the area a much needed facelift. So look out for some news within the next 6 months or so!!! Of course things can change with the economic scernario in the blink of an eye, so don't hold my feet to the fire on this one.

  19. No he works for another firm, but his son works for Lessard...They are the company that will eventually do the renovation. Again like I said. On construction sites there is always alot of shop talk and most of the time these folks know what is going on.So I think that this is a very solid lead and it will happen in the next year or two. ....I sure would like the same to happen at Hydro Quebec and the Canadian Tax & Revenue building on Rene Levesque....................
  20. I have it from a very good source. My cousin who works for a major glass curtain wall company in Monteal was at my home last week and he gave me a scoop. The company is presently working on windows for the new additions at P.E.T. and apparently sometime in 2016 a new project to replace the 50 + year old windows on the main building will be launched. I am hoping that he is right. :shhh:
  21. This is what we saw as the original plan for the site. Now this is awesome, modern and a real showpiece. That new one reminds me of the Mt-stephen Hotel with the odd and uneven window sizes. Man oh man I hope somebody deepsixes this shitty project and gets inspired by the first proposal!!!:thumbsup:
  22. Franchement, mes amis vous me surprenez, l'Orange est la couleur officielle de Montréal!!:silly::silly::silly:
  23. You know this will share some elements of the Concordia newer buildings. Be patient it'll grow on us!!
  24. Hi Folks, Well I called REDFOXCO yesterday and apparently the project is alive and well!! The person I spoke to asked if I wanted to leave a message for the sales rep and she assured me that the project will be going forward in the near future? Won't hold my breath , but hey you never know!!
