J'ai assisté à la présentation du projet par l'arrondissement Ville-Marie et ce sera très beau en effet... et des mesures seront prises aussi pour que le parc ne devienne pas une "nouvelle maison" pour itinérants... bancs avec appuis bras multiples; système d'arrosage automatique de nuit, éclairage, etc.

I hope it becomes a popular spot with regular folk and they extend it further east (past the J-C Bridge) in the future. Coupled with a bike-path it would be another step in reclaiming our shores.

Continue extending the concrete slab over the tracks, towards Parc Bellerive (just east of Fullum St).

As you can see on Google Maps, that is what was done on de la Commune.

I agree. I won't go into the idea of a longer path, which would be a wonderful thing in the long term. But if we stick to the Linear Park plan, a bike path should be planned right now, so that it does not criss-cross with paths meant for pedestrians and so that it can be planned without strange curves that send the cyclists directly into traffic.

 

For starters, such a path could go past the park on De la Commune and turn North on to Amherst street.

 

For now, cyclists who need to go North have to go up Berri - which is not only crowded in the mornings but represents a big climb. An extension of the path (at least) until Amherst would allow to distribute some of the traffic flow. (Amherst also happens to be the last place allowing to cross over the Ville Marie expressway for a while.)

Dès cet été, les Montréalais pourront se prélasser au soleil ou prendre une marche de santé dans un parc linéaire surélevé dans la partie est du Vieux Montréal.

 

Inspiré du High Line de New York, ce parc unique sera un véritable jardin aérien et devrait être prêt dès cet été.

 

À New York, le parc aménagé sur 2,3 kilomètres le long d'une ancienne voie ferrée surélevée est la nouvelle attraction de la métropole. Depuis 2009, près de 4 millions de visiteurs ont marché sur ce parc en hauteur le long du Fleuve Hudson.

Montréal aura bientôt son propre parc surélevé. De dimension beaucoup plus modeste, le parc linéaire de la Commune s'étendra entre Berri et Amherst, au sud de la rue de la Commune, au cœur d'un secteur en plein développement immobilier.

 

«Ce qu'on a pensé -c'est à cause des investissements considérables qui ont été faits pour le Faubourg Québec, notamment également le projet Solano, c'est de faire un parc linéaire de la Commune.»

 

C'est à la demande des nouveaux résidants du secteur que Montréal investit plus de deux millions de dollars dans le projet.

 

Le parc couvrira notamment le toit du tunnel ferroviaire qui mène dans le Vieux-Port. On y trouvera des plantes indigènes, des bancs, une terrasse en bois et surtout une vue imprenable sur le fleuve Saint-Laurent, le port de Montréal et l'île Sainte-Hélène.

 

«On veut rendre tout cet espace plus convivial, plus sécuritaire, plus accessible, même, aux personnes à mobilité réduite. Également, il faut que ce soit un environnement qui est de plus en plus agréable à vivre.»

And the bike path will be extendend from Berri to Papineau along de Maisonneuve this year, so the Amherst connection makes sense. Amherst also extends to Lafontaine Park and the Rachel bike path.

Je n'ai rien de neuf sur ce projet, ni photo et ni information mais je crois que ces deux fils peuvent être fusionnés car c'est surement le même projet dont on parle. Je ne vois pas ou il pourrait y avoir un autre projet de parc dans le Faubourg Québec.

Au téléjournal hier soir le maire Tremblay parlait de ce parc. On veut s'inspirer du High Line de New-York. Les travaux sont déjà avancés.
