    There really is tons of room on the Pont de la Concorde to implant some form of structured transit while maintaining the active transit links. Honestly, I think it’s pretty safe to say that in this era, we could and should ban cars from the bridge, and make all the gamblers and visitors use public or active transport to access the Casino, CGV, and the parks.

    These podium floors are taking about two weeks each, so with five more to go, it’s likely we won’t see the tower begin to emerge until sometime in late fall.

    I’m really curious about the money behind this project from a relatively inexperienced developer as the real estate market has quickly softened to the point that other large proposals by successful developers that were sent “back to the drawing board” have been quietly shelved.

    The writer is neither wrong about otiose zoning and fanatical Nimbyism in Montreal, nor how the same problem affects housing prices in all large cities on this continent. It is a fairly simple, straightforward observation.
