  1. I like the geometric precision and simplicity of that point of view.
  2. Et toutes ces descriptions sont subjectives. Il serait presque impossible de prouver l'intention délictuelle.
  3. Yes but real estate markets have always depended upon upward (or maybe longitudinal) mobility; as prime in-town tenants or condo owners head to the suburbs, renters from slightly less upscale areas or buildings tend to upgrade, renters from lower-cost areas take their places, and so on. Real estate is a rather symbiotic ecosystem that relies upon a healthy economy. The reason inflation is high is precisely because of a booming economy — corporate greed notwithstanding. The big puzzle is how the BoC acts and reacts within its limited scope as an arbiter of how to calm inflation. Raising interest rates without addressing issues such as the aforementioned corporate greed will lead to job cuts and a general softening of the economy in the sole pursuit of reining in inflation.
  4. Everyone keeps commenting that he’s a chronic complainer. He complains because he’s very demanding. I’m quite certain he blended in seamlessly in Paris, where râlage is a respected art form. 😄
  5. Preserving the row-house façades on all these projects may appear rather shallow (pardon the pun), but it’s eminently better than all the horribly monolithic podiums we see on all the new buildings along RL and SJ and elsewhere downtown.

Mitch Garber is very vocal on social media, but neither has he uttered one peep about the Montréal Baseball Project since New Year’s. Then again, he only barely talks about the Kraken, and they actually exist.

Have a look at what the Chicago Cubs put together for this final weekend of the season as a thank you to their fans. This is one of the most fantastic drone videos I’ve seen in a long time. [Click on the embedded video to open in a new tab and enjoy the audio as well] Oh, and while we are on the subject, after watching this, nobody will ever be able to convince me that you can’t build a vibrant community around a downtown stadium. Yes, the Cubs have a long history and diehard support, and Wrigley Field is a national heritage landmark, but all of the new development around the stadium is fairly recent; it’s an entertainment district as well as a residential community. https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1575852496949596168/vid/1280x720/q0uKZcGyLpMw2A1P.mp4?tag=14
  8. Well, how sad is it that a building that would otherwise blend in invisibly with all the other mid-rises in any other city the size of Montreal, will be so missed here once it’s hidden from view by all the bland mid-rise buildings?
  9. I hate it when that happens, and it happens probably every second day, I hope to catch it and delete the duplications, but sometimes I don’t notice until much later.
  10. S’il est si fidèle que l’était VSLP aux siens…..
  11. Imagine how different Cartierville would be today if the Orange line were running all the way to Dairy Queen over the last four decades…
  12. It doesn’t matter that it’s taken more than 20 years, it’s still half-assed.
  13. With the doors not appearing to be substantially larger, I guess they thought the surface metro vehicles would be gigantic compared to our tiny, 2.5m-wide MR-63.
  14. Bof y a rien de terminé à cet’heure. ¡Tranquilos, amigos!
  15. Yes, the high-ceiling ground floor will be a huge improvement from the street, but the awnings are still ugly and extraneous.
  16. Different strokes, I think. I rather appreciate that the binary modern additions don’t attempt to subsume the old grand hotel.
  17. What? The commercial trucks that can’t use the tunnel might want to know how to get there if they were allowed through the tunnel! 😎
