  1. Can you doodle a 750 Peel that shows (roughly) its proposed scale?
  2. Oh great they’re building a pissoir next to the defunct Vespasienne…
  3. Hehehehe. That’s OK it will be so dark in that canyon, nobody will notice the colour.
  4. With two layers of blocks like that they could easily remblayer the trenches.

    Odea - 25 étages

Yes, but if I am enjoying my cappuccino and cornetto at an outside table on Duke, the REM noisemakers will be more than 100 metres away and on the other side of the viaduct, not right beneath my balcony at WslB. So yes, they will be heard, but they won’t rattle my fillings out.

When the RTL buses are gone, Duke/RB is going to be a nice, quiet little boulevard. I really hope they can develop some street level offerings.

    Autoroute 19

    Well, duh, a “REM”!
  9. I have no problem with precluding rail transport. The river is shallow; any new rail bridge would likely cost less than building the new Île-aux-Tourtes bridge to be rail-capable in the future. The other reason not to build it for light rail is that it would be silly to extend the REM to the west through 10 km of almost zero density to get to a low-density exurb off the island. No, what annoys me more is — as mentioned above — that there is no dedicated busway, just shoulders “capable of accommodating” buses.
  10. Hé hé hé hé. I’m a lefty. I also have ears.😝
  11. Lol I’m eating siht at the other place for suggesting what you and Rocco have exchanged right here. 😂 All I said is they’re not silent, and passing 48 times an hour, they will be a nuisance, and those balconies along the Bassin will never be used.
  12. Exactly. It doesn’t make sense to build a metro across 10 km of almost nothing (Anse station to St-Charles) at $150-250-350 million a kilometre so it can serve an exurb. For the cost of this extension (to have a metro not serving anybody for 10 km before reaching an exurb with 50,000 residents sprawled over a large area), the entire exo1 suburban railway could be refurbished, modernized, and electrified, including dedicated tracks and modern stations with level boarding like in the civilized world. Frequent, two-way, all-day service on quick, modern EMUs would be a game changer for a LOT more people than sending a light metro out to the centre of Vaudreuil to capture perhaps 5000 commuters (much of which would be cannibalization off exo1) and a few leisure riders and shoppers.
  13. Thanks, good to have input from the other side of the glass. 👍🏼
  14. You’re not a layperson: what’s your technical take?
  15. I know people are getting tired of the “horns might not happen” comments, but at this point, as a layperson, I can’t see how they could possibly work. The prefab that’s going up has a relief that looks to be about a foot off the sub structure; the concrete parapet on the roof appears significantly taller than the current angle of the prefab cladding could possibly cover up. photo adapted from a great shot by @David St-Laurent
