    Montreal's Future Skyline

Cool! Yeah see, that’s one of the angles from which the 232 m ASL limit doesn’t make much sense. From Habitat’67 or anywhere in the general Cité/Vieux-Montréal area, the existing high rises already dominate and block the hill we call a mountain. A profiled 300 m doesn’t look shocking or out of place there.
  2. They made the fancy architectural wood ceiling, and then put exposed surface wiring to match Berri-UQAM. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. Ima get me a drone and flout the law, too. I hesitated getting one — even when I was travelling twice a month before 2020 — because there are no interesting places to legally fly unrestricted around here. But I mean, I see a couple of new drone videos a day now, showing pretty much everywhere except Dorval. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

People still frequent that place? I stopped a couple of years ago. Nice find, though.
  5. Lol I saw 😂 Even 800 and VSLP don’t match the final plans
  6. Darker blue-green on the PPU map means “authorized or under construction.” Care to comment?
  7. So many great possibilities in the PPU map… I especially like the ones we’ve been discussing recently.
  8. Sauf que le métro de Montréal est l'un des rares au monde à être entièrement sous terre.
  9. This made me laugh out loud for real! 😂
  10. Lol. Belle Pro, Starbucks and DQ. That’s patrimonial alright.
  11. No new pictures — because honestly not much has changed overall except for what can be seen in the Fairview and Anse station threads — but I can confirm that crews are bringing LG Anne back from her winter nap. Today they were reinstalling the control panels and stations that were removed for winter. Also, the team that started preparing the columns nearest Anne a couple of weeks ago have progressed west of the westbound Ste-Marie overpass and are nearing the Kirkland station. If the long-range weather forecasts are correct, nights should be relatively mild from here on and perhaps work on the aerial sections can start fairly soon.
  12. That’s where people can hang their air conditioners for the three weeks of summer we get. 😉
  13. Hang on now. I’ve been saying this since the project was confirmed, and everybody said I was harsh and that these lousy shophouses were worthy of conservation.
  14. Good points. Look up in the sky! It’s a train!
  17. The second pic belongs on the Wikipedia page for “Boring Skyline” 😴🥱😴
  18. LOL and 40 years ago the "Old" Port was for hookers and drugs and mob settlements. Sh!t happens, things progress. "Vintage" transit isn't transit at all. Meanwhile, there is an active freight railway (two tracks now, but eight tracks just 40 years ago) directly down the middle of this "walking" area. As industrial and commercial activities in the Port continue to move further east and off-island, this railway corridor could certainly be redeveloped into a modern tram line to serve from the Casino to Parc Jean-Drapeau, Cité-du-Havre, des-Irlandais, Mill Point and through the rapidly-densifying and popular "New" Old Port up to Berri. As discussed elsewhere, all it takes is the will to do it.
