  1. The West Island REM stations don’t line up properly with exo1 stations. Bois-Franc isn’t at the 13.
  2. The juxtaposition of the two pavilions was indeed really cool.
  3. Hehe good point. 😄 I was more thinking that there’s no bike lane integration with du Parc (I don’t know if there’s a bike lane on Parc in that section).
  4. Does the bike lane really just dead end right there?
  5. I remember working a couple of expositions in the 90s and it struck me how huge the indoor loading dock area is — a floor above the offices! Looking at the JLL docs, yeah, it’s as huge as I remember: it can handle 15 full-sized (53-foot) trailers at a time, a ridiculous capacity now that the space is converted to retail. Even an average Costco doesn’t need room for 15 at a time.
  6. Ginza is the least flashy of Tokyo’s richest neighbourhoods, but it’s way upper scale. What’s great is that because it’s like Beverly Hills, people think it’s too expensive and avoid staying in some of the smaller hotels on side streets — leading to some great savings for less-well-heeled travellers! I’ve stayed at the the Mercure Tokyo Ginza in 2-chome — three short blocks from Showa-dori or a 15 minute walk to the Imperial Palace gardens — for $85 a night. All that said, Ginza and Roppongi are probably the only two areas in Tokyo we could look to for inspiration; everywhere else is a true concrete canyon over-embellished with neon and LCD billboards.
  7. Yeah. Never mind that no clear plastics at the time were flame-resistant, had the segments been bolted together, the welder’s torch wouldn’t have come into play.
  8. It was my understanding that Bucky Fuller had originally designed the segments to be bolted together, but for speed and cost savings SGH decided to weld them, and the fire was ignited during rework on one of the welds.
  9. Is something finally happening at 639-643?
  10. Well, we know it wasn’t bolted together…
  11. It’s really a great location and a bit of a gold mine for the developer. It’s kind of a longish walk to the REM station, but there are plenty of buses and I’m sure the bus routes will be adjusted in time for the opening in 2024. There is so much potential nearby.
  12. Wow thanks! Haven’t passed by there in a while, maybe since my last Lufa pick up in late winter or early spring.
  13. The geekery and nerddom in this thread is effin hilarious. Rumours of 200 m really is the Pam Anderson Tommy Lee tape of armchair urbanists in Montreal!
  14. Lmao I wouldn’t go that far but yeah. Good stuff. No chaff.
  15. I like that the trees have overgrown Ms. Lambert’s house, but it hasn’t otherwise changed in 30 years. If the floating chairs ever disappear, I will be very sad.
  16. Wow. Wowww. Beautiful shot. Exif data please 😉😄
  17. I’m going to get a season pass to Six Flags next year just so I can ride the Minirail. Nothing else, just the Minirail. 😂 I was born on the unofficial opening day of Expo, the Saturday before the grand opening.
  18. Genuinely laughing out loud, @Rocco! Grazie
  19. And with the conversion of the exhibition hall to retail spaces, such a ramp could easily be replaced with freight elevators from St-Antoine to the area of the indoor loading docks.
