  1. So which one is it? 987 dlC? Or Odea, on RB? Which will have more impact at the eastern entrance?
  2. Le métro n’est pas vite.
  3. Our laneways though 🤦🏻‍♂️
  4. I think I like it because it’s not wallpapered with balconies.
  5. Another step in the modernization of the Métro’s signalling system. April 6, 2022 Thales receives contract extension for Montreal metro network The contract extension will allow Thales to supply its technology to 16 stations. The new technology will help improve Montreal network operations. Credit: Thales. French company Thales has secured a contract extension from Canadian public transport agency Société de transport de Montréal (STM) to deliver new computer-based interlocking systems to a further eight metro stations. Through the extension of the contract, the company will provide its technology to 16 stations or depots. The upgrades will be completed across all lines of the rapid transit system in Montreal. Montreal network operations are said to improve with the deployment of Thales’ new technology, thereby benefitting around a million passenger trips per weekday. Thales technology is expected to enhance the existing infrastructure in addition to supporting future network developments. In 2018, Thales secured the original contract for replacement of the signalling equipment across eight stations and garages. It will enable STM to maintain service quality by upgrading its existing infrastructure. “This project aims to improve the technological infrastructure of the Montreal metro while accommodating future network developments,” said Thales. Thales Urban Rail Signalling vice president and managing director Alcino De Sousa said: “This contract extension solidifies our strong working relationship with the STM and demonstrates our commitment to supporting the ambitions for Montreal’s metro through our technology solutions. “Our strong local presence in Quebec will ensure long-term support for the STM and the passengers they serve.”
  6. Nice pic but I’ll say it again: that Grand Quai Tower is horrible. An eyesore. A wart.
  7. Nah, the topic just regularly comes up in idle banter with the folks at Bramble House, the deli, and the dep over the years.
  8. The moratorium includes the entire Valois Village, also comprising the long-rumoured redevelopment of the strip mall right across Chester Avenue.
  9. Everyone loves to complain about Walmart and yet the Walmarts are always crowded (and the Walton family gets ever more obscenely wealthy). If people chose to shop more local commerces instead of big boxes, Walmart would not have a raison-d’être.
  10. Yes, but while there’s a lot to criticize about this government, you’re also ascribing to the current CAQ administration several decades of other governments kicking the can down the road.
  11. Thank you for clarifying, I also wasn’t intending to be rude (maybe just a tad dismissive! 😉).
  12. Am I missing something?? This project would be closer to two Métro stations than many Montrealers are to simple bus stops on meandering routes. It’s also close to schools, markets, multiple supermarkets, groceries and pharmacies, dozens of eateries and cafés, libraries, and clinics. Yeah I don’t get the “no infrastructure” argument. I note the disdain for “bike lanes” itself probably warrants the “NIMBY” label.
  13. The market isn’t cooling at all. I expect a flurry of announcements over the next few months.
  14. They’re spending billions to modernize the signalling on NY’s MTA subway, not beautifying the stations.
  15. The plan was to do a small tranche of the Orange stations at first, the stations that are currently crammed at rush hours (something like Cremazie to Berri). The trains used on the Yellow and Blue are incompatible with doors if we want to future-proof the system, as all new fleet orders will share the Azur’s specs (three wider doors vs the MR-73’s four slightly narrower doors).
  16. Isn’t this article discussing the existing Bridge-Bonaventure proposals (for which we already have a thread)?
  17. I still can’t decide which McDonald’s is I’ve ever experienced, Fenelon? Or Antoine-Faucon? 😂
