  1. My sister is 550m north, Windermere/Montrose area, and she says the same thing! 😂
  2. It’s not like it used to be. There are only two or three airlines (Air Inuit, Canadian North and Raglan) with legacy 737 aircraft using the old, noisy engines, and they only operate during daytime. Also, runway 10-28 was decommissioned so all the homes in the area around St-Louis west of Sources are no longer under the paths. Certainly less bothersome these days than living in Beaconsfield and Baie-d’Urfé along the CP/CN lines and the 20/40.
  3. Aww mang my view will be blocked in four or five years! 🤨😉
  4. The A-640 was supposed to be a “ring road” or bypass, the northern counterpart to the A-30 on the south side. All it will take is an agreement with the Kanehsatà:kehró:non to bulldoze most of Kanehsatà:ke to get to the A-40. Yeah that’ll happen.
  5. Every so often, one must re-post this brilliant clip from the Australian show “Utopia,” which very cleverly explains Jevon’s Paradox.

That’s the “extra BILLION” that the City has to fork out. The Caisse’s $10 Billion estimate doesn’t include any of the “finishing” or “upgrading.” The actual SRB on Pie-IX is probably worth less than $100 million; it’s the rebuilding of the entire right of way from the bedrock up that’s costing another half-bill.
  7. Sorry, that’s NIMBYism at work. They buy homes 25 m from the busiest road in the West Island then complain when the commercial property next door is proposed to be redeveloped. As @Rocco said, “When I bought this house next to the airport, nobody told me about the planes!”
  8. Now, like Sergakis with the Manoir on St-Jean/Hymus, whomever owns the Lafleur at des Sources/Hymus is sitting on a goldmine.
  9. Thanks! I hadn’t seen that Pte Claire document, good info.
  10. Not to be constantly negative, but this station is in a complete desert: it’s not in or near a residential area, it’s nowhere near any of the dense commercial areas, and it’s not even in a particularly dense industrial sector. The land speculation has already begun, with new developers like Rosefellow snapping up properties to build huge warehouses and truck terminals, but these places won’t have enough employees to fill the trains. Still, it will be a very good thing for the hundreds of car-less people working within a 2 km radius who currently cut across des Sources (between the lights) and the A-40 overpass to get to the STM bus stops.
  11. I stayed in a penthouse suite on the 23rd floor of the Sheraton (now Tivoli) Moffarrej when I was younger, and I thought São Paulo was a very vertical city back then, especially compared to pre-1000/pre-1250 Montreal (when our fourth-tallest tower was the “Tour Olympique”).
  13. The Crane! Just like we saw late last summer at Fairview, the big crane is now at des Sources to hoist the huge platform beams into place ahead of station construction.
  14. You mean this? Lmao so true. Caveat emptor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  16. Lol @Né entre les rapides “We” = “the world.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidrvetter/2021/04/06/bitcoin-could-churn-out-130-million-tons-of-carbon-undermining-climate-action-heres-one-way-to-tackle-that/
  18. We are too busy dedicating an overwhelming amount of electricity production to mining and trading cryptocurrencies. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  19. The Bleue up to Amos/MN would be the absolute best solution for residents, to be quite honest, but it wouldn’t help developers and speculators one single jot. Lol I remember this lede from five years ago:

The new park will be so… intimate… that the yellow Willie Stargell seat will have to be somewhere near the Bonaventure in the middle of the Bassin. 😂
