  1. Except you know it wasn't because they didn't like the design. It was all about being too tall.
  2. If I recall, the developers of Louis-Boheme asked for a derogation to go taller and were refused. Not that a taller version of that would have been beautiful but how about an exchange for more density for better architecture and finishes?
  3. Planting season: get those trees installed.
  4. Ayoye. Aylmer and de Maisonneuve... can an intersection be more tragic-looking? And the buildings not in view in the first pic are even more depressing.
  5. Too bad that from the vaunted lookout view it blocks Sun Life. Bravo to the city planning dept for that always obsessed about river views. LOL. IMHO a taller more slender (sliver) would have looked better and added some contrast. We've seen this with the Bell Telephone building - short and/or fat the same height at the everything else is dumb, dumb, dumb.
  6. It'd be nice to get an 8-10 storey replacement there where Pharmaprix is located; some residential atop the retail. Oublie ca des bureaux.
  7. It's kinda weird how they went "fancy" and gave the east facade the indented section and the west facade is just flat. The east view is obstructed by other towers compared to the west that is wide open - and will stay that way forever (basically).
  8. You know, that's not bad. Mondrian-esque. Montreal Boogie Woogie.
  9. I have to comment on this: the base of this original proposal is basically the AC Marriott on R-L. It's cheap and weird-looking and just ugly. Meanwhile the black tower here too is reminiscent of pre-fab black Le Dorchester. Yeah. Non, merci.
  10. Last pic: that's one sexy cluster of towers. ❤️
  11. A shame. It was perfect in combo with the Bell Telephone Bldg and allowed for it to be in view/on full display; en valeur if you will. A single office tower of say 190-200m was all that needed to be built the west of it. I really hate the the Bell building is lost in the skyline and even the streetscape. Totally dominated by the chubbies of Place Maisonneuve.
  12. Oh, they're not high at all.
  13. Looking forward to seeing the trees get airlifted to the roof... 🤗
  14. Version B. Hands down. Version A is hideous.
  15. The hate for this tower even though the tower isn't even up yet is amazing. 😏
  16. Awful. I think the entire Roccabella project -1,2, and 3 - are a scar. Ugly. Missed the boat completely. The best last lot(s) on R-L Ouest and this is what gets built. Had the twin towers been glass all around then it would have been passable. Icon is runner-up.
  17. Is Montreal's built environment pretty grey? Grey stone? Street after street? White would stand out but not in a necessarily good way. FCP in Toronto is a good example of white. (i.e.: marble and now glass) as is the GM Bldg in NYC. A canvar building in white? Oublie ca.
  18. Nice new addition to this area for sure; beefs it up. Any chance the old Royal Bank building on the corner of Peel and Sherbrooke gets redeveloped? Or is that lot too small to be worth it? For the moment at least. It's pretty ugly.
  19. If the panels on the tower are as varied as in the renderings, this should be quite beautiful. Another glass tower would have been boring IMHO. I'm waiting with baited breathe but I don't think it'll be long now as it appears we've reached the pouring of tower floors.
  20. Of which we have so much of in Montreal. This one doesn't bother me; it's limestone I believe, but they keep ruining the base. A return to a more orignal look would do it good. I find that Mid century stick in Montreal isn't as cared-for or acknowledged very much. Even PVM has been bastardized.
  21. Generic but as far as developer architecture, I have seen much, much worse. At least it's not offensive and certainly isn't ugly (except the base). The glass is very nice and adds much needed sparkle to this intersection.
  22. Hopefully with a silhouette that isn't straight-boxy. Wish we could get a 200m tower with a crown a la Maison de Cooperants (KPMG) or McGill College tower.
