  1. IMHO I think a building instead of a park should be built north of PdF - to enclose the space, complete it. Doesn't need to be a tower. Anyways, the park will be nice I just think there's a lot new of park/public spaces around here already.
  2. Dommage that BNC wasn't built to 217m - the old limit on that block circa 2000.
  3. I don't get the name whatsoever. LOL. Who the hell came up with that?! At least be inspired by Montreal's history, etc... this is a dumb name no doubt.
  4. Given how transparent the glass is on the "crown," I would expect quite a lighting job; the top is going to basically glow at night.
  5. Exactly: a 200m zone most likely will result in a variety of heights. 120m is evidently too low: almost all developers are building to that limit.
  6. Too bad, I find the entrance is lackluster: looks too commercial and this circular columns just look wrong.
  7. Let's hope the Y site get a 200m tower! Is this effet escalier really a city thing... or a mtlurb thing? I mean, that entire block is zoned 200m so can't be a planning dept criteria.
  8. Strange height limit here... I guess so it doesn't overshadow the 2 beauties on R-L on this block.
  9. 156m isn't 120m so it actually thrills me. 😆
  10. These small projects on Bishop are quite nice while one block over on Crescent, the projects are atrocious.
  11. Seems like glass installation is slow on all 4 of the big boys going up... 1 SQ Ph, Maestria 1 &2 and BNC. Supply chain??
  12. Couldn't agree more. The reality, in most cases, only the facades are worth preserving; the vocation of these buildings changed over 100+ years and the interiors were all altered and massacred. Especially during the rooming house years and later the bars and stores. From the back they always looked like slums IMHO (look out over them from the MMFA) and this way of adding density through façadism is also making better use of land in the rear. Finally, they are essentially going back to their original vocation: residential use.
  13. I guess I'm thinking more at the retail level... L'Avenue is pretty lacking.
  14. Really unfortunate that this high-profile location didn't get more design scrutiny from the city planning dept. It's out in the open - prominent - and will be the next 100 years unless zoning changes and existing buildings are replaced with taller and better stock.
  15. I don't understand these cold podiums that feel so uninviting and inhospitable... L'Avenue also has such a "cold" base. Poorly conceived is an understatement.
  16. The city specifically asked them not to give it the Art de Vivre treatment... I'm quite anxious to see the panels. Hope they are on the white-side. And the tower portion panels are slated to be more interesting too.
  17. The reflective nature of the glass on Place BNC really adds some much-needed modern sparkle to the skyline from his view in particular.
  18. Yeah, I hate that antenna... plus the rusty, bent grills, the top part of PVM makes the entire complex look tired and sad. They can renovate plaza's and malls all they want but if the tower looks worse for wear....
