  1. Well, it is fully-built-out from this angle. The exception being this current project.
  2. So unfortunate that the north and south sides of R-L on this prime block have, IMO, two of the worst projects: Icone and Rocabella. A skinny, 200 metre tower in the place of Icone 2 could redeem the streetscape here.
  3. Really a shame that Cathcart doesn't go through to Dorchester Square: Sun Life deserves to be on its own lone block.
  4. I would say conservative rather than bland; Place BNC is a Canadian bank head office so the architecture is pretty on brand.
  5. Well, apparently the city feels that 1000 dl G is the most beautiful tower in Montreal and that no other building completed in the future could ever get better; no other building will ever top this. 😝🙄😂
  6. I still can get a handle of the glass, the subtleties of the aesthetic, and the overall look of this thing.
  7. True, it's not exciting architecture but the quality and aesthetics look great so far plus the height and the splash of modernity was much-needed in this location. It was however, a missed opportunity to really do something "outside the box" (double-entendre for sure!) but we're in the age of developer architecture to the max. 🤷‍♂️
  8. A very corporate, very head office-looking building. And its' sexy as hell. Definitely says "power."
  9. For a short period in 1962-67, it was somewhat impressive; not many cities anywhere had Modern skyscrapers.
  10. L'Avenue is definitely the best of the new crop of towers. I think BNC is up there on account of its sheer size and quality of materials (I mean, a bank HQ). I think Le Livmore - once complete - will be a standout too. YUL looks interesting from afar - my honorable mention.
  11. That floor being poured looks higher than the others....
  12. I actually think the cube shape and the volume/size now looks great with the 2 new "giants" behind it. The BeG site is big enough to accommodate a 100m or 120m "tower" - not that a variance would be granted by the city.
  13. I'd like to see a reclad in black glass; that would make it quite a sexy-looking cube. BNC and VslP are so similar in colour and there needs to be some variety.
  14. My god, I was just looking at a google street view of lower Cresent Street. It was the saddest and most unsightly street downtown in the 80's and 90's and they have managed to make it even uglier than in was with some atrocious-looking infill. Would greater density allowances made a difference?
  15. Greater shame that the tracks weren't sunk beneath the Bell Centre so that they could reach Windsor Station.
  16. Just realizing that only one facade (north) has that nice tinted glass. 😏
  17. I really wish they had asked for a derogation to say, 215 metres. The building could have been slightly less fat/more slender and been the tallest building while still being just under the "Mt Royal regulation."
  18. IMHO this is one of the best looking projects going up. Phase 2 will blow it out the water!
  19. I still don't know what to make of the glass for VslP: it just doesn't seem sophisticated or elegant enough for such a prominent tower.
  20. I'm assuming façadism will be employed here. (I certainly hope so... this is a handsome little building).
  21. This is climbing so fast! Really love it so far.
  22. Not a fan. I find it actually distracts from the view of Mt Royal from the plaza. As a temporary art installation, ok. Permanent? Nope. PVM has already been so disfigured over the years this is just a continuation.
