  1. That first pic with Rodier is awesome. It's going to look even better once BNC is complete.
  2. It's also just an odd building.. vocation-wise, size (volume). It made sense in its conception and the early days; the only saving grace is that big floor-plates are what companies desire nowadays and PB fits that bill.
  3. They should just install a permanent, lighted sign - just the H logo or something, at the very top corner of that facade.
  4. You mean the 6-storey, red brick building? It's hardly a visible eyesore of a blind wall. It's also a pre-war building which gives it a pass; blind walls do exist in urban settings and not all are ugly or out of place etc... I don't think it's that noticeable given its small stature. And there was an expressway there for 55 years; the new boulevard now unlocks the development potential not seen previously.
  5. Given the picket fence of 120m towers that has very clearly emerged, raising the height on the last remaining buildable lot makes sense... a developer asking for a derogation could make a strong case for say, 150m.
  6. Please, no more twins! It may look plateau'd from certain angles, but from others it's going to look sexy as hell and a beast like this in the location really expands the business core.
  7. The subtleties of the tower's design are really starting to pop.
  8. It certainly won't be almost as wide as Sun Life.
  9. I would bet that the developers of 1455 de la Montagne are soliciting some high-end/luxury brands for the retail portion of the project. This project is the lynchpin of this neighborhood... at this intersection, as it is right now, it's pretty awful-looking all around.
  10. They could have asked for a derogation to 215m and easily supported the case: it was zoned 215m previously, 215m still comes to the height of Mt Royal without surpassing it, and views to and from the mountain (whatever they are) remain unaffected.
  11. I always thought the base looked clunky and very busy in the renderings; the reality is turning-out to be much less-so.
  12. This plot is zoned 200m with max density per the the current zoning plan. I'm not sure how they can tell the developer that these entitled rights are now meaningless.
  13. The city MIGHT allow 120m to replace the BeG. The old stand-by height. CIMA just needs a re-clad with and extended parapet to hide that messy service core.
  14. I'm surprised that the back of the tower facing the new public square has a lot of concrete... doesn't look very good as far as activating the square; expected it to be a more transparent lobby/RC level.
  15. Again, give it a few years and let the pandemic fade. People want to be social and out and about. And companies will force employees to be in the office at some point - even stay at home workers are starting to admit that there is a lost synergy.
  16. Not every building is going to have a connection to the RESO. And PB, Le 1000, are 1 block away, as has been mentioned; not exactly isolated.
  17. Really wasn't opining about it from a street level perspective. Wall-for wall, Le Dorchester is better.
  18. Frankly, I think the backside of Enticy looks worse than that blind wall.
  19. This whole "office buildings are out of fashion" mentality is going to be passing sentiment; in 5 years from now, as business continue to grow and new ones are created (and the pandemic fades from view) - in every city - office towers will fill up again.
  20. I think BNC is going to get what it wanted: it will make a mark in the Montreal skyline.
  21. I think this is the best view of Icone - close-up and cropped with a focus on the front, curvy detail.
  22. I'm cool waiting for a better project by CF here... some new iteration.
  23. The space between the two towers reserved for the public square isn't as big (wide) as it looked in the renderings.
  24. The planning dept has been allowing this on a lot of projects: the driveway being on the wrong street. Qunizecent is the only one that comes to mind where they got it right.
  25. Possibly. Rich people are notoriously cheap - they hate to pay for extras. They rarely carry a wallet and expect other people to pay for things.
