  1. They must have been going for the "it must fit with Griffintown" look.
  2. US airports are barely glorified bus terminals. Even when they build new, they're nice and clean but still very pedestrian - basic; no statement architecture. There are a very few exceptions. I hope they 're smart enough to leave enough room for expansion of the ramp and roadways... ADM has a history of short-sightedness; everything always feels tight: corridors, ramps, hallways, exits, gate areas.... and that's the newly built stuff.
  3. They probably thought: no one is going to build a 200 m skyscraper in poorly situated, no-man's lands anyway. We see these non-sensical, seemingly arbitrary and drastic height limit differences all over downtown. And almost never any leeway with developers who have lots that are 1/3 200m and 2/3 65m. How about granting more height and density in exchange for better architecture/quality of materials? Or in the world of Valerie Plante, more low-income housing units in exchange for height and density? Has that ever happened?
  4. And yet, CF is building 120m on a lot that has a partial limit of 170m; in fact, exactly where this monstrosity is going to be built.
  5. The black windows look chic on the old building.
  6. Pretty please. This is one of the better projects currently going up / near or just completed. And the bigger tower is the real star of it.
  7. A big disappointment that this baby isn't going to hit 200m... from some angles, it looks like it barely hits 190m.
  8. I'm sure it can be done... extra expensive development requirements given the site would require any developer to max-out the density allowable in order to make it profitable.
  9. Does CP still own the boisé? I think they did mention potential development there a number of years ago... like when TdC1 was going-up; silence since then.
  10. Ugh. I hope this one doesn't get derailed. I have high hope for this and its impact on the skyline and cityscape. I'm anxious to see the neo-brutalist panels of the tower portion. Their financing should be locked in....
  11. Remind me again, isn't a portion of that block like 170m? Maybe just the corner section at Peel? Will we see a new design or are they just re-using the mixed use design?
  12. Orange brick and fake limestone beige was THE look in the mid-to-late 1990's, certainly in Montreal. Très tendance in 1996.
  13. I have been wondering for 20 years why there are no car-pool lanes on the T-Can. Totally mind-boggling. It's such basic amenity and one would think a "green" concept to try to reduce traffic and get people to you know, carpool.
  14. Beautiful pics. The slenderness of VslP right next door makes BNC look exceptionally big and impressive even if it is shy of 200m.
  15. Might only be 17 floors but they did pay $44m for this lot... I just hope they don't skimp on the finishes. It's gotta be a tight financial model.
  16. Oh. Interesting. Thought this one was going on ice as the economy fumbles. Also... still no renderings?
  17. Really sticking to brand Montreal: fat and short towers.
  18. So not really worth it to replace. A heavy reno, yes.
  19. Lowest 5-6 floors floors of this look the best; the entire tower should have looked like this. No glass curtain wall, no black pre-fab at the top....and can't they match a fake pre-fab "limestone" better?
  20. They need to install a big window on that side facade... open it up to the square and to pedestrians walking east on Ste Cath.
  21. "Tour" is stretch. But it's a beautiful little Po-Mo building. Aging well.
  22. To not build to the max height here doesn't make sense: the higher floors, with better views of the mountain would demand higher prices. Plus, a design with larger terraces too would add a premium.
  23. Exactly. That's why it needs more trees surrounding it. 😝
