  1. Indeed. Is the brick wall with the "Le Duke" banner on the lot line? Will these two building actually touch at the point? Or will there be a dumb/useless little space between them?
  2. I really wish all 4 sides of this got the pre-fab panels; the north and south facades look cheap. But the west and east are great looking. Those big square windows and all the symmetry is reminiscent of 432 Park from an aesthetic point of view (obviously).
  3. Sorry, but that roadway looks so narrow and close to the terminal. Again, always so tight. There is plenty of land in the front of the terminal - like a LOT of land to play with that is all parking (structure and surface) I don't get it.
  4. It has more glass than pre-fab so that's good. But it is very drab. Looks like it was inspired by the Louis-Boheme next door. A shame given the location and that it'll be center stage for a LONG time.
  5. Looking especially massive in that first pic! 😍
  6. That's because every development has treated St Antoine like a back alley; even the entrance to Place du Canada is like a loading dock.
  7. Agreed. I could see this being 30-32 floors on Bleury and the set-back is in the rear... basically a reversed set-back.
  8. Architecture and materials need to be the top concerns along with street activation (i.e.: not ventilation panels and garage doors in dumb places); height limit is actually fine here.
  9. They will be a thing again... we are still in the immediate post-covid era.
  10. Not surprised. But the project would certainly help Montreal along its post-pandemic re-launch 1) with contruction jobs and 2) with the bigger con-fabs the facility would attract.
  11. What a dumb agreement made: CDPInfra should have been responsible for the construction of the YUL station. Point finale. ADM could have consulted and covered the costs for extra design features and finishes and all that ADM felt their required.
  12. Now, if we can get something like L'Avenue at 200m where the YWCA is, it'll break up the mediocrity of the architecture on this western end of R-L not to mention the flat-lining of the skyline....
  13. A concrete wall facing the park and not a transparent RC/lobby.... pas fort.
  14. Grey is fine. So long as the variation in the textured panels of the tower are as rendered - that's what is going to make it or break it.
  15. The fact that they didn't include the Bois-franc station with the Cote Vertu garage project is mind boggling to me. I was there recently and it's ridiculously close. And it could very easily have been explained as a cost-effective project; the equipment is already there tunneling and the REM is opening.
  16. This is where the planning dept and zoning and powers that be make little sense: 200 m basically right off Ste Cath here but farther west by a few blocks it's heresy to have anything more than 65 m near Ste Cath. Where Tour Rogers is for example, a sliver of 170m would look so good. Even 1 SqP, only like half the lot is 200m. IMHO, tall or taller buildings encircling public spaces especially when they are expansive spaces, is desirable; the public spaces feel cozy for lack of a better term. The first time I ever walked into an empty Times Square, being ensconced by the buildings actually felt inviting. You get just as much wind and coldness (literal and figurative) when you have no buildings or 3 story buildings surrounding a square as you do with towers. That's why I think it was/is a mistake not to build a tower or some kind of statement building at the north end of Place des Festivals to bookend the space, anchor it. Another park or square is nice, sure no argument there but the area has a lot of public space already.
  17. L'Avenue and Deloitte (yes, even though it short) really are the best that have been built near the Bell Centre.
  18. The stretch along then-Craig street had some magnificent buildings... substantial-sized commercial buildings that should NOT have been demo'd.
  19. The Art Association building is gorgeous but I do like the Art Deco replacement quite a bit.
  20. All the neighbors along R-B look tragic next to this glassy behemoth: BeG, Evo, even ICAO. 🙄
