  2. I like your optimism.
  3. “Up to 90” is great, but their own site says full speed will regularly be 100 on the SdC and in the West Island. The segments From Panama to Brossard aren’t ideal for top speed testing. I’m not saying they should hurry up their testing protocol, I’m just pointing out that there are many tests yet to be done — including stops at stations and timing the screen doors, along with full tests of trains with nobody aboard — and the segment from Central Station to Brossard remains largely incomplete. Pretty difficult to test the system when it’s unavailable. So one of two scenarios will evolve: testing will be rushed (and perhaps with deleterious effects) to open by the end of the now-promised “spring-summer 2022” timeframe, or the timeframe will be pushed out further.
  4. Honestly it’s the posts that are ugly and massive. Are they using recycled girders from the decommissioned Champlain Bridge?
  5. I don’t believe they’ve done many “driverless” tests at operating speeds, nor any tests at full speed, nor any with four cars. No catenaries on the bridge, incomplete through PSC, a gap to be bridged near Bridge… yeah it’s not opening before the end of next year.
  6. Either that, or the feds saw the mess between the lanes in Brossard and put the kibosh on the same being installed on their bridge… 🤔
  7. Anyway, back to 900, rue St-Jacques: how many more underground levels? Any guesses? This foundation seems to be quite a massive anchor for such a skinny tower.

Oh cool, I hadn’t seen the finished panels fully installed. Surprised that the Google Maps car has been by there in the past few months.
Indubitablement. 😜
  11. The film being projected on that screen was shot before the Synergy cranes went up lol
  12. Autostade was such a great place for football. Cold af, but fun.
  13. I mean, Mississauga has the tallest skyline of any suburb in North America. Do we have anything like this? Absolute World tower 1 would be the sixth tallest building in Montreal.
  14. Hey I’m no fan of Toronto, but before this most recent Montreal building boom, even North York had a taller and more impressive downtown than we did. Lol
  15. Right. I think it’ll suck a bit for the houses closest to the huge structures in Kirkland and Roxboro, but for the most part it’s just a necessary transit infrastructure. Those same people in Kirkland chose to live right next to the 40, which is certainly no work of art.
  16. I’ve read this three times. I’m not confused. You’ve described the exo1 ROW, but with a low-capacity, low-floor tram running long distances between stations instead of a modern regional train. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  17. Ah ok.
  19. Thanks for the links-back! Yes, I wish I knew more about the process, but from what I’m able to gather, each span is tensioned individually and then simply tied to the next; the resulting beam is made up of 9-11 voussoirs tensioned together and resting atop the column saddles. As such, there remains a noticeable gap between each span.
