  1. Oh there’s no doubt it’s a tip of the hat to Montréal brutalism. The same effect is used in how many of the second and third expansion Métro stations? Half the west leg of the Orange and most of the Verdun Lasalle stations have it as well.
  2. I was down there today, it’s not really jarring, just a bit mundane no matter how hard it’s trying.
  3. Reeeally wondering how that will deal with ice and snow that lands the right way and sticks. Where will it go? Or is it all heated?
  4. Waiting for the structured lumber trucks to start arriving 😏
  5. I honestly don’t know how difficult it would be, but I think a small shared section of the existing Green line could probably have the rail system reinforced, while any new shared trackage to the north would obviously be built for both from the outset. I imagine renovating the entire line, as was deemed when the CRRC proposal was disqualified, would be prohibitively expensive for no net gain.
  6. iPhone, huh? I don’t post-process any of my forum pics and “Ponto Orange” takes on a very peculiar hue in the most recent iPhones’ onboard processing.
  7. Why is everybody getting this wrong? The city is spending nothing and Quebec is putting in $360 million. Or am I missing something when some provincial junior minister suggests that they still have to ask the federal government to pony up?
  8. Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out
  9. Pas sans convertir le TdE en métro léger, au moins.
  10. Not even close. You’d no doubt never been to the eastern bloc countries during the Cold War. Even in the more “progressive” countries back then, buildings were neither tall nor designed. Krushchyovkas in all these countries were very reminiscent of any 1970s apartment building you still see in the West Island or Cartierville, only on a grander scale. But they are also almost no different from public housing we see in countries that we consider among the most advanced in the world, including Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. For this particular project, I’m reserving judgement until I see the final outcome.
  11. Just waiting to see if the cross motif on the tower portion was retained or eliminated. Hoping for the former.
  12. And yet, c'est bien ça ce qu’on a fait à plusieurs endroits le long du REM™ dans l’ouest. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  13. In other words, pretty much every idea we’ve come up with in these threads over the past two years lol
  14. So far the podium looks exactly like it does in the renders. I think I would rather wait and see the final product before pronouncing judgment.
  15. Almost got me posting my LL meme… 😂
  16. Wonderful shot along my favourite canyon in this city, @Brick!
  17. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Et ça ne fait que 50 ans que le Complexe Desjardins et le Stade olympique ont été aménagés dans l'est afin de favoriser ledit essor du centre-ville vers l'est!
  18. Fantastic eye, @chico!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
  19. Also, not to do promotional work for Reece, but his recent video about buses echoes what I’ve been saying in this forum for years: our governments are married to the duopoly of transit bus manufacturers in Canada, who market a decidedly inferior product here compared to buses available outside North America. Strangely, cities much more crowded, with much narrower streets, and with much higher transit ridership than Montreal are able to use shorter, more comfortable buses that are correctly sized for their city streets. We end up with city buses that are more than 12 m long, with the manoeuvrability of cruise ships and with immense overhangs that cause bow and stern swing. Why can’t NovaBus (Volvo) and NFI market their very successful city buses that are widely sold on every other continent?
