    REM de l'Est

The crux of the problem. An eventual private (or para-public) partner needs a guaranteed ROI, and spending a couple of billion for a few kilometres of tunnel just to have a transfer point at McGill or Gare Centrale will be the deciding factor. That's why I believe any future REM line will not be a branch to the north(east), and I'm doubtful it will intersect at either of the two underground downtown stations. In fact, I'd expect this possible eastern alignment to be a full heavy Metro before an expansion of REM. The notion of 21 stations on ~21 km as seen in the mistakenly-published maps at the infamous meeting is contrary to any "RER-style" system.
  2. The exo line from DM to BF will close in three months, and not open again for at least three years, but BF station will be ready way before then. They could have started working on it after the closure and built it properly. This is half-assed.
  3. La rouille? Le graffiti? If an abandoned industrial sector had a patrimoine to protect, Griffintown would have never been allowed to be built. But yes, that REM viaduct is awful, as bad as the CN but much taller.

LOL c'est ironique ou quoi? Le proprio du Fairmont Queen E est... la Caisse.
  5. Thinking about it a little more, it’s a pity they didn’t plan for a central platform here. All the station cards for the Anse branch show an inflated travel time to the Airport, because “To get to [the Airport], you must transfer at Bois-Franc station from [Anse branch] station. We’ve added a conservative 10-minute connection time to our calculations.” In Singapore and other places where the airport is on a spur, there’s a central platform between the main trunk and the spur’s track and one just crosses the platform; often, the connecting train arrives within seconds and zero time is lost. 👎🏻
  8. Interesting to note that in the implantation plan for Fairview, the extension of Avenue Hermitage is planned already. My guess is we will start seeing surveyors’ marks and excavation of this new CF/IC property fairly soon. https://rem.info/sites/default/files/Plans d'implantation 2020/PI_Station_Fairview Pointe-Claire_EN.pdf PI_Station_Fairview Pointe-Claire_EN.pdf

LOL we are all speculating and daydreaming... it’s all good!

Excellent point. 🤪
  11. Does it seem like a “canopy” is an afterthought? Lol
  12. Encore, ils font quoi exactement, l’UPAC, pour $30M? It’s just one big den of thieves is what it is.

Since we are all playing along.
