  1. 😅😅😅 Guess you haven't seen the places off of Queen Mary Rd or around Oakdale Park.
  2. Given its proximity to the MCMansions in TMR and Bois Franc not to mention Hampstead, I can totally see that. It would be a great location for flagship stores that would rather not be right downtown.
  3. Funny how this is being stopped for design revisions but the horror that's the Children's project is being allowed to even exist......
  4. What I think is there isn't a single shovel in the ground. We'll see how this pans out.
  5. The problem is the South Shore communities seem to get it. Get the TOD's built in preparation for the REM (Solar, etc.) rather than let land sit vacant for decades. Meanwhile the West ends up shooting itself in the foot by hand wringing for years, turning a blind eye to prime development space before finally doing something. I think we can all see what will happen: the REM in the west is deemed a failure due to low ridership even though there has been zero moves to proactively create residential developments that would "feed" the stations. Its ridiculous.
  6. Gives a new meaning to "50 shades of grey" doesn't it?
  7. So its a mall that's turning into....a mall?
  8. What Carbonleo has done is "supersized" their proposal in the hopes it will get approved on a smaller scale. Basically submit a dummy proposal with massive buildings and then look like you're giving into the city's inevitable demands to downsize.
  9. I must have missed something. The cranes are up and foundations being poured but have there been any final renderings of what's actually being built right now? Obviously not the residential towers since there haven't been any sales or leasing other than a vague contact form on their site. I mean the architectural plans are obviously done if they're in the construction phase but all they have on their site are some meaningless platitudes with the usual "sustainability, mobility, etc." catch phrases. Is it the glorified Dix30-esque shopping mall that's going up right now? Is there a phase plan? Such an odd project.

Couldn't agree more with the commentary. The dual city pipe dream needs to be put to bed.
  11. This project needs to be shelved before infrastructure is build to support it. Maybe a dedicated tram link to the Montmorency metro station? Right now this looks like a ridiculously shortsighted project that lives in a dead zone for a lot of rapid public transport (and no, Laval's terrible bus system isn't rapid public transport). It'll cause more congestion on already congested arteries. No thanks.
  12. LOL. Never gonna happen. Look at Griffintown. Look at the disaster that's Boisbriand. Look at Solar.
  13. I love them from a practicality standpoint. Glass railings are a nighmare for maintenance and long term durability.
  14. Nothing like having something as simple as a REM station being trotted out for political gain. I don't care about who its celebrating, this whole thing is ridiculous.
  15. Exactly. No need to commemorate anyone. Keep it strictly descriptive.
  16. How about we just throw out naming public transport stations after politicians, famous people and other confusing BS? Its idiotic. Name the stations based on their location. Our Metro system or even Ottawa's LRT Confederation Line have their stations named by location so why is it so hard to name this station "Griffintown" or the one at Fairview Mall "Fairview" or "St Jean". The only reason I see is having a recognizable figure on-site allows for a nice little political photo op. We seem to love complicating things in this province for no good reason. But then again our politicians also love their meaningless photo ops...
  17. On commence les travaux en février 2022 et les premiers patients pourraient arriver à la fin 2026." DISGUSTING. I can't emphasize this enough; YES they are delaying again....until an election year. Still playing political football with people's lives.
  18. I seriously hope folks on this project are taking VERY good notes on what's happening in Ottawa right now with the Confederation Line. Man what a mess....
  19. Funny the congestion problems are being blamed on ridesharing but no mention made of the absolute disaster that's the SF public transport system. Ask anyone who actually lives in the Bay Area and you'll hear a million reasons why they don't touch Muni Metro and usually take ridesharing from the Caltrain hub instead of public transport.
  20. Isn't this right near where the massive Ikea distro center is and where Amazon will likely set up another AWS facility? Its right near a generating station so its perfect IMO.
  21. Once again a massive project that completely lacks ambition. Wow.

My vote is still for an NBA team. The best part about it is we wouldn't need a taxpayer-funded stadium! Personally I hope any decision to use public funds to build and then prop up an MLB team would be put to a referendum so the public can shoot this idea down once and forever. Landing an MLB franchise isn't a prize like it used to be. Tons of cities are realizing the immense drain on public resources those things are, especially in smaller markets.

Of course they're in favor since a baseball team wouldn't compete directly against the precious Canadiens. After seeing the excitement here in Montreal for the Raptors, I think it should be more than evident an NBA basketball team should call Montreal home long before another baseball team.
  24. Not a fan of Mrs Plante but her administration is right on this one. They should have put the school and social housing units as part of a binding contract. They already lost the school and the developer thumbing its nose at the social housing aspect is just icing on the cake.
