  1. Tbf, the chosen route has a lot to do with it; Fairview is fine, and I expect the IC/CF partnership to bear fruit in the form of TOD/“walkable community” development on the adjacent land. RioCan has an eye towards similar vocation shift at Kirkland. But des Sources is in No Man’s (Person’s?) Land near a Belle-Pro and the Source du Sexe. Will warehouse workers walk kilometres on roads without safe sidewalks to get there? Or will developers push to get the area rezoned? And as we discuss in the Anse-à-l’Orme thread, that one is a completely wasted opportunity.
  2. One can hope. Ditto for Centre RioCan Kirkland, but there, the NIMBY backlash will be more acute. The McMansions abut the back of the property, and face it across the 40.
  3. J’attends être dèçu demain après le dépôt du budget à l’AN.
  4. Disappointing, to say the least, considering the vocational shifts at CF commercial properties in the GTA and the Lower Mainland (Vancouver). It’s a HUGE piece of prime real estate that — in a declining B&M retail climate — has dedicated a good 60% of its space to parking. I expect that may evolve once the Fairview-West development starts. The Pte-Claire master plan shows a silhouette of Fairview that deletes Reno and extends west of the Simons end into the new development. It also eliminates the remaining car dealerships in favour of more TOD construction.
  5. Craig Sauvé has said that the platforms at the new stations will be built ready to accommodate screen doors. My question is “why?” considering it’s unlikely the line will be Azur-only in our lifetimes. Heck, I doubt the line will get nine-car trains any time soon, even with the new east end riders.
  6. The original Metro took five years with many more (and more complicated) challenges and far inferior construction technology. A 5km extension shouldn’t take a decade. Smfh
  7. Even at a bare minimum of $100M/km, that’s $2B. It makes ZERO sense to send a metro across 15km of farmland.
  8. I think downtown Vaudreuil really needs a good transit offering. Exo1 ain’t it. I’ve posted this here before, it’s the Bombardier NGR700 at Brisbane Central heading out to the suburbs and airport on the CityTrain service. When the Queensland government does rail, they do it correctly from the getgo: take priority on a line, add enough parallel tracks to ensure service, electrify, and build level platform stations.
  9. Watching the progress of a huge mega project in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD the earthworks took almost two years to complete before footings and actual construction could begin. Despite the soil differences (sandy over there, clay and stone here), I’m rather surprised that Carbonleo expects a first phase completed in just two years.
  10. Dans le bled pour vrai. I had a similar idea as @Kodun when the route was revealed, but if you want to kill off exo1 in a hurry, that’s the way. Instead we should be pushing for an overhaul of commuter/regional trains in and around this metropolis. Exo1 should get its own ROW along the 20 with double tracking, electrification, level boarding and covered platforms. 15 minute two-way service with much shorter trains would work.
  11. Me semble ce ne sont que les voussoirs qui seront montés directement sur les chevêtres qui sont hors-poids pour le dégel, car ce sont les seuls livrés à cet heure.
  12. Really gotta wonder why it isn’t crossing back over the 40 and stopping in the Baie-d’Urfé industrial park. There’s plenty of room in front of Kubota and at the burned out former-Linguini/Stephanie’s resto or the abandoned spur just east of Galderma. It could be built with a central platform to obviate the need for a turn-around or tail tracks and switches.
  13. The old Steinberg’s location. 😉 [Showing my age]
  14. It’s this type of sound-bite activism that drives me crazy, tossing a straw man fallacy about their opponent in without giving any solutions to the questions they themselves raised. If Franssen’s group can raise $150M to help the community, don’t you think there are more pressing needs than La Malterie?
  15. Perhaps I missed it upthread, but Glenn has tweeted a link to the Renwick presentation. So for others who didn’t see it, you can get a better idea here: Renwick project for La Malterie
  17. They’d also have to frickin rebuild C-P right down to the bedrock! It’s worse than the pukiest ride at La Ronde! 🤣
  18. Comment? C’est un Flexity de Bomberdier, type très populaire partout au monde (+100 villes, incluant Minneapolis — où les extrêmes de météo sont beaucoup pires qu’ici).
  19. So, The Seagram Building.
  20. Double-tunneling and centre-platforming the southern section of Orange (Vendôme to Sherbrooke or Mont-Royal) to create a trunk to share with an eventual “diagonal” line from Lachine to Mtl-Nord isn’t the dumbest idea ever... if only it weren’t for the existing pneumatic infra.
  21. The Tampa Bay Rays have to move their HQ... 😉
