  1. Ugh reading more about it on the Canadian Heritage site, I can’t believe it wasn’t considered important enough to maintain in its original design. http://www.memorablemontreal.com/accessibleQA/ponts/?id=168&menu=histoire
  2. Hehehehe no argument. La plupart ici ce sont de type YIMBY. 😃
  3. Again, I said I’m curious. The speed with which it goes, they could have put one of them on the PSC segment and built it in half the time, and have it set up in the West Island - where there’s a six year deadline instead of four - already. It’s just significantly more efficient than solid beams and cranes and site-poured decking. In just seven months of actual run time, both Anne and Marie have each completed almost 3 km of aerial structure, while the 4 km structure in PSC isn’t nearly complete after almost 21 months non-stop. That’s all I’m saying.
  4. It’s 4 km, pretty much the same as each of the two LGs are doing on the West Island. I’m not questioning the wisdom of those making the decisions, I’m just curious as to why it was decided so. The airport tunnel isn’t very long, but the TBM was chosen even with a six year schedule.
  5. I think the majority of comments since it topped have said similar, that 10-20 storeys more would have been perfect.
  6. Orange line extension to Bois-Franc, Namur station on exo2 Saint-Jérôme, both crucial to the success of Décarie and Triangle developments - including Royalmount.
  7. Moi c’était hier mais le trafic roulait assez vite. C’est ben moche voir les grues abandonnées. 🤞🏼 que ça redémarre bientôt.
  8. I’ve been told air rights don’t exist here 🤷🏻‍♂️ Gawd I wish you could divulge what you know here (and Kirkland)! 😂
  9. Bien d’accord avec cette analyse They can relocate to the nearest Tim Hortons parking like in Beaconsfield. 😝
  10. Another tower to hide that Brutalist cube. OK I’m OK with that. No more sun for the pool but OK. Now if Cominar pése s’la pédale for the CN site...
  11. I mean, nobody expects almost any Montreal suburb - let alone Kirkland - to suddenly sprout a dozen 25- to 50-storey skyscrapers like Burnaby, but it is certainly a good site to host a couple of decent towers in the 15- to 25-storey range. A lot can be accomplished on 1,000,000+ square feet of land.
  12. I wish we had more details about Centre Kirkland (fka Riocan Kirkland). There really hasn’t been any news since the announcement three years ago. Personally I hope it’s taller and denser than what it seems the Fairview TOD will now be.
  13. That’s why I’m surprised they are going even faster. The plan is still to complete one span every two days, averaging 2.5 spans per week overall during the construction season (ignoring the cold weather suspension). They are now on track to double that pace while they can, which I do believe will catch up some of the covid losses and mitigate any unforeseen future disruptions. At this pace they may get to Kirkland station this year!
  14. I think the average work rate has accelerated on the West Island branch. LG-Anne was at three spans past the portico west of St-Charles last Friday. They have completed five — FIVE — spans since then.
  15. Cool! Si tu remarques une Toyota mauve minoune flânant près du chantier, c’est juste moi, nourrisant ma curiosité des oeuvres. 😉 La vue de l’intérieure d’un empan est unique. Merci!
  16. I’m still wondering why the West Island and South Shore branches use different construction methods: West Island uses a profiled voussoir span while the 4 km PSC section uses precast beams topped by a poured deck. The Canal crossing started almost a year before the first voussoirs arrived at Fairview, and now after just 13 months total — including six months’ suspension for winter and Covid, so just 7 months of work — almost 6 km of voussoir spans are complete. The method used for PSC just seems so inefficient by comparison.
  17. Travailles-tu à Fairview cette semaine??
  19. @SkahHigh I think there’s a glitch in the matrix... BilMo’s July 17 post seems pinned under yours on every page:
  20. I saw that pic earlier while I was trying to find tunnel details and thought, “Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that angle of the Queen E!”
  21. LOL the façade supports provide the perfect scaffolding for graffitistes
