  1. Belle photo! Lots of potential for development in this shot, look at all those parking lots just waiting for some buildings.
  2. This looks much better than previous renderings. A hotel next to the Bell Centre and nearby office buildings makes sense. Let's hope it moves forward...
  3. There's always 2 sides to every story....sometimes even 3!
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! They should have take down Subway instead!! 😂🤣
  5. La distance est aussi un element dans la selection du materiel. https://rem.info/en/news/south-shore-summer-2019 Elevated structure Approximately thirty beams have been installed near the intersection of Highways 10 and 30. Local snapshot: most beams are precast concrete, manufactured not far from here in a workshop located in Pointe-Saint-Charles. Note, however, that the beams crossing directly over Highway 10 are made of steel. This type of beam is used to cover longer spans between pillars.
  6. I think the difference is the distance between the support pillars. In the west island section the pillars are built closer so they can use the cement blocks. In the south shore section you show, the pillars are further apart and therefore require steel. But I could be wrong. I can tell you one thing for certain, both structures will be covered in graffiti in 3, 2, 1...
  7. Bonne nouvelle! Finally! I agree that there's a great opportunity for this lot.
  8. Wow! Back in the crazy heydays of MTL...anything was possible! Let's bring back the crazy!! 🤪
  9. I like it...but I'm wondering how the pavers will hold up over several winters of abuse from snow and ice removal. Hopefully c'est du solide!
  10. I think I see Captain Ahab hiding behind one of the pillars.
  11. Intéressant! Merci @ScarletCoral pour tés réponses rapides et instructives (comme d'habitude) 🙂
  12. So they can object in 10 days but that doesn't mean it's resolved within 10 days. What happens after the municipality comments or objects to something in the plans? I'm curious if there is a defined process that is followed to resolve any dispute. Some sort of arbitration? Or do they just negotiate till one side backs down? Sounds like Kirkland objected to where NouvLR was planning to place the pillars (too close to existing municipal infrastructure for sewers and water mains) but it's taking months to resolve. Without knowing all the details I think Kirkland is right to ensure that critical infrastructure such as water and sewage is safe and easily accessible (we take it for granted but is their any infrastructure more important than this in the world today? I say no).
  13. The more I see/read about this the more I am getting worried about future impacts. NouvLR is asking for derogations on what is already included in the REM contract and they have the nerve to complain when the municipality questions the impacts?? I don't blame Kirkland on this one. It sounds like the municipalities have not been well consulted and are voicing legitimate concerns on the introduction of massive infrastructure with large-scale impacts. We all want high-speed public transit but shouldn't NouvLR work more closely with it's partners? You can just strong-arm everybody to get your way. Speaking of massive infrastructure, this is starting to resemble the Metropolitain...including the crappy cement. If the cement looks patchy now, what will it look like in 10-15 years? I also can't wait to see all the beautiful graffiti that will surely come on those pillars...why not get some local artists to paint the pillars instead of waiting for the inevitable tagging?
  14. PHEW!!!! Merci. (You better be right! lol)
  15. Uhmmm...please tell me there won't be a giant 'mur aveugle' on the back/side of these buildings, right...RIGHT????
  16. Exacte. +10000 Il faut un siège social de grande taille, qui occupera 15 à 20 étages minimum, pour qu'un gratte-ciel soit construit.
  17. Ahahaha! I think they are aiming it right at Place Bonaventure lol
  18. Bon point! Mais quand meme pas un 'vrai' tour de 40+ etages (genre quelque chose comme le BNC). Il ya aussi la nouvelle maison Radio-Canada mais ca aussi ce n'est pas vraiment une tour/skyscraper...
  19. Agreed but the true sign that Montreal is really back on track will be once new office towers start to sprout up the way condos have. Unless I'm mistaken, the BNC is the only 'pure' office tower that is being built out of all the new towers downtown, no? I know there are some being renovated (e.g. Viger) and that VSLP will have some office space, but if we're talking brand new office-only towers I don't think there's anything else (please correct me if I'm wrong). Either way, I'm just happy to see all this construction downtown!
  20. Totalement d'accord avec toi @FrancSoisD. C'est un petit début mais j'espère que c'est une indication de l'avenir pour ce secteur. So much potential to densify around all the major shopping malls in the greater MTL region. 👍
  21. lol! How dare those trees encroach on our progress. 😆
  22. On this grey September 23rd...at least the cement blends in with the sky. 🤨
  23. I know that you have all been waiting for another exciting Ventura update!! 😜 Almost complete.
