  1. This map is patently intellectually dishonest. The terminus for the blue line extension will be at Galeries d'Anjou (SOUTH) of highway 40. This one shows it at least 2 km north of that, which makes the blue line look like a diagonal line east of Saint-Michel, which it will not be. It appears to be drawn this way to draw people away from the fact that the CAQ would refuse funding for the pink line, and continue to leave north-east Montreal poorly served by public transit.
  2. The problem is that at the news conference announcing the cancelling of the race (which let's be honest, never should have been held in the streets of MTL in the first place), her answer to how much the termination penalty provided for in the contract would be, she answered she didn't know. She may have made the right decision regardless of cost, but that is absolutely amateur hour, and tells me that it probably was taken just as quickly.
  3. The wood structure is coated with a fire retardant material, and what I've been told is that the outside edges of the wood burns, but chars before the first can spread to the inner parts of the wood. It's the same thinking that went into the Centre Vidéotron. I'm no scientist and have no way to verify the information, but I hear that the lab testing has been pretty convincing.
  4. I remember seeing a graphic where they showed the "pushing" of the different sections to make the bridge. Does anyone recall this? Does anyone know where to find it?
  5. And it would have nowhere to connect to on the other side other than stairs. It would need to be much higher (at least the 3rd floor) to reach the passerelle on the other side between Deloitte and the Bell Centre.
  6. It's very hard to see with my iPhone camera (sorry for the bad quality), but they installed the structure for the lower level of the crown today. If if weren't for that box, this tower would look really sleek.
  10. They refer this project as "CentraCondos de la Montage, Phase IV", except "phase IV de la Montage" is the one at 1000 de la Montagne.
  11. The spire on the CIBC Towers rises to 250m above sea level (Source: wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIBC_Tower "Without this extra structure, the actual roof height is 184 m (604 ft), and approximately 187 m (614 ft) when counting the elevator penthouse. It is the fifth tallest building in Montreal, but an antenna raises the total height to 250 m (820 ft), the tallest pinnacle in Montreal.")
  12. Donc la tour va compter 60 étages finalement?
  13. In the right light, the building looks just like the original render. Too bad the right light only lasts a few hours a day.
  15. The east gray stone (former hotel) was torn down on Friday night because the façade was at risk of crumbling. The roof of the middle building also caved in during the fire. A perimeter has been set up around the western buildings which to me would indicate further demolitions will be forthcoming.
  17. We're getting off topic, but you're 100% right. To expand much more, the ADM will eventually have to buy up all of the hangars (and aviation industry head offices) between the two runways along Cote-Vertu to build a second terminal.
  19. En rose pour la Saint-Valentin

    Expos de Montréal

I actually think this makes it better for a stadium. After construction is finished, we can always add an station that is only operational during stadium events on the line after the Griffintown station. When there are no games, the train can just skip this station altogether. There are a few examples in the US of subway/train stations open on game-days only (ex: Victory Station in Dallas was only open on game-days for the first 6 years it was open). Under the new path, the train runs RIGHT NEXT to the land for the stadium. Given that the tracks will be above ground, the construction of this station will cost single-digit millions (say between $4M and $6M) instead of an underground/underwater station with triple-digit millions (say between $100M and $200M).
  21. I'm pretty sure that most of those are elevator doors made of metal that will be closed off when the project is finished.
