  2. Credit is cheap and easily accessible. Investors looking for alternatives to capital markets. Baby boomers sitting on wealth and gifting to children.
  3. Is it really worthy of OMG though? I hate to be a Debbie downer but Canvar doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. “Mais au moins ça bouche un trou”
  4. Just like the construction boom was behind in Montreal, and we’re living it now. Similarly shopping mall conversion/integration is on its way. Plans were proposed for Place Versailles and I bet others (eg Place Vertu) will follow suit.
  5. really hard to tell which building from the header photo is being built.

    Montreal's Future Skyline

Anxiously awaiting the next major project announcement (excl gare centrale). Where will she be?
  7. That escalated quickly? No need to be confrontational, I would expect more partiality from an admin. When I was single, I didn’t understand the appeal of such neighborhoods either. Now that I have my own family, my perspective has changed. Have a nice weekend Vince.
  8. Indeed, this part of town is a mystery to me, a tiny strip wedged in between the very hip and rejuvenated Concordia neighborhood/Asia town and Westmount. Such a head-scratcher.
  9. Réseaux sociaux is a big one. Why make the effort in going out - get dressed, drive/park downtown, spend money on overpriced alcohol - in the hopes of picking up a chick, when you could simply use tinder (or similar) and normal priced alcohol from saq. The times have changed.
  10. “Dramatically increasing its footprint” 🤦‍♂️
  11. https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/thursdays-will-not-reopen-and-condos-will-likely-be-built-at-site-owner-says?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1578085568 There are no plans to reopen Thursday’s Bar and Bistro, a Crescent St. landmark for nearly 50 years, and the building that houses the restaurant could be sold to condo developers in coming months. The Ragueneau family, which owns the building, confirmed Friday it’s looking to move on from the restaurant business and already has a handful of potential buyers interested in the building for condo purposes.
  13. Generous. The East-West sides are horrendous.
  14. Interesting article on CNN which reinforces my belief that Royalmount will thrive as it differs from a traditional mall: https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/23/economy/luxury-malls-holiday-shopping/index.html?utm_term=link&utm_content=2019-12-01T06%3A01%3A06&utm_source=fbbusiness&utm_medium=social “Shopping centers catering to the upper middle class and affluent -- as well as tourists -- are thriving thanks to a focus on higher-end brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci and the presence of Apple (AAPL) stores and Tesla (TSLA)showrooms in their malls.”
  15. J’ai jamais compris le besoin d’avoir des escaliers...special city permits?
  16. We’re on our way to creating such a dull skyline.
  17. Income tax is based on the location of your primary residence at the end of the calendar year ie December 31. So the people you knew paid Ontario provincial tax because they lived in Ontario, irrespective of their work location.
  18. Agreed. You really need to zoom in or be a mtlurber.
