Just came across this project, looks very interesting. Anyone hear anything about this project?

Horrible project, archaic vision, bunch of mcmansions  with 3 door garages , litterally something out of 70's. they should have left it greenspace instead of going with a project like this.

Who do you mean by "they"?  Perhaps l'Agglomération de Montréal, of which Senneville is a tiny part at the western tip of the Island?

I have not seen the type of houses that would be built on the site, but based upon my rare visits there, its character is predominently bucolic and well-to-do, not at all in the style of the "McMansions".  Do not lose sight of the origin of that term and the meaning that it conveys.

I suppose that the current dwellers in Senneville want to maintain the character of their place.  More public green space is probably not something  that they particularly crave for, as they already have lots in close proximity, and will have even more with the future Grand Parc de l'Ouest (located within the City of Montreal).

Places such as Senneville were not invented in the 1970's.  Senneville itself dates back from the French Regime.  Historically, and to this day, the world over, a fraction of the very wealthy and/or powerful have had a preference for locations combining natural beauty, quietness, seclusion from  the hustle and bustle of the city, all the while remaining within easy reach of the seats of power and industry.  And this is not an American peculiarity.  Many wealthy French, British, Russians, Germans, Chinese are no different.

Let us have more public green spaces where more people live!

<<THEY>> as in the city of Senneville and its citizens., they wanted to preserve as much as possible. I have been enjoying the ''Grand Parc de L'Ouest'' for many years so i know the area quite well. Senneville has nothing like this proposed development and you are right when you say the citizens want to preserve the character of their place, in other words the citizens are and have been against any development including this one. The last 2 mayors have been playing municipal gymnastics to please both developers and citizens to no avail.

the west island does not need any more urban sprawl, its housing stock is already well over 50% of this type of housing. The West Island needs to beef up its major arteries with high density in order to have a more balanced mixed housing and also to encourage public transport.

And yes , let us have more green spaces close to where people live, maybe tell that to senneville residents who hate condos more than they love trees. here is an article where they blocked a condo project that would have saved 80% of the land to be developed. now that same land will be grazed for single family homes that take up much more surface. Not to mention it completely goes against proper urban planning and sustainsable development. (uness you live in the 70's)
