  2. The angles, the metal framing, and (once completed) the two colour contrast. Des échos et non pas du duplicata.
  3. La rue Eleanor en transition. Photo prise la semaine dernière.
  4. Photo taken last week, a final look at Pascal's Restaurant Supplies before demolition was completed.
A nice salute to Expo's 50th anniversary.
  6. Photos prises samedi dernier, le 8 juillet. Although this is not in itself a huge construction element, it represents a significant step in this very delayed endeavour. One more view, a close-up of a steel beam waiting to be lifted into place for the westbound A-20 exit ramp.
I would demolish the rowhouses, create a large plaza serving as a southerly extension of the Jeanne-Mance festival axis, back it with a signature highrise on the south flank and a smaller structure on the west side echoing the volume of the ONF/NFB and serving as a southerly continuation of that axis of buildings. The smaller structure would have ground floor commerces fronting on Ste-Catherine. In other words Canderel's 'Tour Spectrum' site design but with the taller building set further back and with the rowhousing removed. If the taller building housed a hotel, the north facing rooms could be very sought after for their direct views down to the Scène TD.
  9. Good point. ".. as high end" is relative however I imagine Broccolini would want to show off a quality boutique-style befitting its siting on the edge of Square Victoria. Remember, the last occupant of the existing building (until 2013?) was a Domino's franchise, so things can only get better now...
  10. alissone007, from your description of events it sounds (pardon the pun) as though the Centre Bell will have to modify their vent system. I'm not an HVAC expert but I assume they could install sound and wind deflector walls just like you see at airport maintenance bases.
  11. Entièrement d'accord avec toi, acpnc
  12. swansongtoo wrote " " * Is it possible there was some nuanced language at play? Perhaps the Marathon rep was implying that the zoning of that parcel could support a 50 storey tower? Perhaps the rep was implying that the financing bundle was able to support construction of a 50 storey tower? Perhaps it was to be a 50 storey tower 'collée' to the arena, just like the TDC? * **
  13. Call me stupid, I always knew the Tour CGI had the cylindrical shape at the bottom and top, but I never realized until looking at this perspective that the cylindrical sections are aligned. Merci eastender pour ta perspective.
  15. SKYMTL, to quote the CDPQ Aug. 24th document ( https://www.cdpqinfra.com/sites/all/files/document/cdpqinfra_factsheets_24-08-2016_en.pdf ) Where does it actually state that they're removing the stationnement incitatif at Sainte-Anne's? The updated docs simply mention relocating the transit bus and kiss 'n ride components further east as one of several scenarios. Realistically, if the commuter parking, kiss 'n ride and bus terminal components are removed, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue would be an underserved terminal. Great for foot traffic to and from the new Marriott at Morgan Road and the Baie d'Urfé industrial park, but that's about it, Going forward, even the plus-value from potential residential subdivisions north of the 40 would be mitigated if those new residents couldn't even have a kiss 'n ride. Which is why I imagine that moving around the infrastructure is 'one of several scenarios'. In the next ébauche the Sainte-Anne station itself could be relocated a bit.
  16. andre md et p_xavier, vous avez tous les deux raison. If the purpose of the tunnel is to avoid the canal, then a widened extension to the viaduct accomplishes the same goal for fewer $ and less construction time.
It sounds like a done deal, yet on reflection these are the CMM's suggested questions in a working document, not a final report. So yes, as p_xavier asks, which scenario is the most up to date? The airport line has the distinction of being a greenfield project through the Technoparc yet being hampered by the existing airport station's axis and siting which was designed for a southerly approach for a shuttle line through Turcot and Lachine. So another question might be as follows: If the already-built airport station infrastructure beneath the Transborder check-in hall/Marriott Hotel, already funded by ADM, is not used, will ADM be compensated in some way, especially if ADM now has to adapt terminal infrastructure to accommodate a station in a different location?
  18. Yes a 9 minute headway seems very reasonable at this point. Thanks cprail and p_xavier for the clarification about the single track, I had not seen all the relevant documentation. To andre md's point about linking up to the CP/CN mainlines, I assume that the single track design and siting could permit eventual doubling south from the air terminal.
Is this an optics thing to appear environmentally friendly upfront, with wiggle room to end up with two tracks 'after public consultation'? In the absence of any other info this is just a guess, but a single track on the airport spur immediately limits headway timing.
Yeah but... Without knowing anything more about the Hatch plans, let's consider that the station space is on a northeast-southwest axis beneath the Transborder check-in hall, so the tunnel will have to curve to the north to join up with the axis shown on the plans. What will be in its way? Isn't there airport infrastructure beneath the older part of the terminal that will have to be relocated? Or is the built station space deep enough that this won't be an issue? Or can the REM trains descend a relatively steep grade immediately north of the station to avoid this issue? Since they can't do cut and cover underneath the terminal, will it be deep enough for boring? Ironically, this north tunnel would roughly parallel the Aeroquay's former second passenger access tunnel, closed in 2005 when the west end of the Aeroquay was demolished.
(I think they're just cables, though)
