Je n’ai pas fait note de ton opinion, mais le mien est que les TEC sont des services sociaux, pas des subventions aux promoteurs pour développer de nouveaux quartiers. “Ce n'est pas payant” ne doit jamais être une raison d’ignorer les quartiers les plus densément peuplés de la ville et ses banlieues centrales, ou de jeter à la poubelle la mode idéale pour un dessert en faveur d’une mode ostentatoire parce que “la ville l’est digne.”

I’m personally still of the opinion that a tramway/tram-train on a partially grade-separated right of way — like ION in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, and Toronto’s Line 5 Eglinton — would suit the Notre-Dame line perfectly. Eglinton will use a mix of tunnel, elevated and segregated street-running with traffic signal control, as well as a combination of ATO and ATC as well as driver control. Both systems have capacity of up to 15,000 pphd using 40m Flexity Freedom vehicles.

To me it looks like proponents of a street-level tramway (ie opponents of an elevated railway) have drawn them together in order to highlight the bright, green tramway, and emphasize the huge, dark REM.

This being the first step, one has to wonder if once it gets to the planning department or CCU they’ll consider it as part of the “Grand Entrance” instead of Griffintown, so will allow the height derogation to form part of the step-effect on either side of Robert-Bourassa. I would imagine the west side has to ramp more steeply because of the curve from the Bonaventure Expressway (and eventual boulevard). The ~25 storey “Duke” buildings on the east side are further south, and the lumber high rise coop will also be quite tall. 29 storeys at St-Maurice and de l’Inspecteur would be ideal for the transition to 900 and South Block.

Au centre-ville de Vancouver le SkyTrain passe surtout en tunnel. Between all the plan stations, and all the demanded stations, this thing will run as slowly as a tramway. 😂

Even though the “look” of the Metropolis can be custom built-to-order for each client, they seem very generic and banale compared to other Alstom models and those from other manufacturers. They must be the very cheapest model Alstom makes, certainly the most popular. Like a Corolla compared to a Golf.

P-ê ça ne vaut rien d’afficher l’extérieur des trains, grâce aux portes-palières. Je suis convaincu que les écrans-affiches vont être au dessus de ces portes-palières et non seulement au dessus des quais. On se rappel que les écrans vont aussi indiquer si les voitures sont occupées.

Cest certain d’avoir de panneaux au dessus des quais (ou des portes palières). Dans d’autres systèmes de type “RER” (ou “regional” mais pas “express”) avec des troncs et branches, on voit souvent que les lignes/termini sont affichées sur le côté comme des autobus. Espérons?
