  2. Hey Guys just wanted to attempt something cool here. The top Image is Montreal in December 2015. The bottom image is Montreal in November 2019 ~4 years later same angle from the same camera. I was able to do this by using the compare Image feature on the Webcam of the Champlain Bridge (From Nun's Island View): http://www.nouveauchamplain.ca/chantier/chantier-en-direct/ I don't know how long this webcam will remain active so i felt like doing this now before they take it away. Enjoy!
  3. Skyline from 9th floor JMSB. The skyline is expected to change drastically even from this angle with Dorchester apartments, Quinzecent, and 1000 de la Montagne scheduled to be completed within the next 3 years.
  4. From 9th floor John Molson School of Business. looks like only the top 3 or 4 floors remain to be constructed.
  7. Spotted on the corner of Peel and St. Jacques. Does this mean we can move this thread to "Going-up"?
  8. there is a billboard on the corner of st antoine and de la montagne that says this project is now in construction. was unable to take a picture as i was driving
  9. Most definitely Francsois, that plot on R-L W would get them so much money as land on that street is at a premium. The Economist MBA rankings came out and JMSB is at an all time high #91 in the world and #4th best in Canada so the school is expecting a nice and big endowment payment from the government. More good news to come im sure https://www.economist.com/whichmba/full-time-mba-ranking?page=9
  10. Yes they have. here is the breakdown if you are curious; Floors S2-S1-RC-2-3 is all classrooms Floors 4-5-6 is classrooms mixed with student club/association rooms Floors 7-8 is the music department and their classrooms Floor 9 is the conference room floor + graduate students floor Floors 10-15 is teacher and staff offices
  11. I mean from my understanding, they want the building to be closer to the other buildings in order to avoid a spread out campus. 2140 fits that but its an ugly plot of land indeed. Thats why they are saying 25 floors plus because the area per floor would be small.
  12. You know walking by that VA building on Rene Levesque i noticed a Doverco construction sign on the property any news about that ? Yes i noticed you mentioned about the bids and that's why i asked my profs more about it, i built onto what you were saying when i found out more information.
  13. After speaking with Concordia reps about the project, (my real estate professors and associate deans who were involved with the failed bids) i found out that Concordia did bid for the land many times not just twice and they were outbid in the end. The CSU which is separate from the board of governors of Concordia were the ones whining to the news. The school has no more space and is thinking about acquiring another piece of land nearby to build another tower 25+ floors minimum. This is because JMSB is 15 floors and built in 2009 and is already full 10 years later. It seems the school wants to avoid the same mistakes as last time by building a taller building. The two pieces of land of interest by the school are the 2140 Rue Guy Parking lot and the Parking lot behind Restaurant Beatrice where the proposed Waldorf Astoria Montreal was. I do not know the height limits of these two lots so if anyone has that information that would be great so we could know if that's feasible.
  14. Old article but not here thought i might add https://www.concordia.ca/news/stories/2019/07/17/concordia-takes-a-modern-and-modular-approach-to-temporary-classrooms.html
  15. This better not be like Icone where phase 1 is built and phase 2 is on hold for god knows how long
  16. Same location... 1 day later the Dickie Moore office trailers are set up (in red) construction imminent?
  17. New perspective.... photo taken from 5th floor of L'Avenue (WeWork offices) looks like they are letting the ground detoxify itself by leaving it alone for a bit as the site was a gas station before....
  18. New perspective... taken from the 5th floor of L'Avenue (WeWork offices). Judging by the truck looks like they are in the process of gutting the red brick building in the background
  19. Than you Scarlet, its better this way, one thread for all the new rides instead of making a new ride thread each year
  20. the 514life blog was right, at the bottom of page 5 i said that la ronde would be getting a 4D coaster. Just been confirmed, new roller coaster name is Vipere. So we lose Cobra but gain a Viper. Also this would be the first 4D coaster in Canada. Mods please change the name of the thread to new la ronde ride Vipere? https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/canada-s-first-ever-free-fly-roller-coaster-to-open-at-la-ronde-in-2020-890401587.html
  21. More green space, affordable housing, public transit among citizen group's demands for Royalmount megamall Andrew Brennan , CTV Montreal Published Saturday, August 24, 2019 6:01PM EDT Last Updated Saturday, August 24, 2019 6:39PM EDT https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/mobile/more-green-space-affordable-housing-public-transit-among-citizen-group-s-demands-for-royalmount-megamall-1.4563805 Several dozen Montrealers opposed to the upcoming Royalmount megamall met on Saturday to brainstorm ideas that they say could make the project less of an irritation to the neighbourhood. Among the suggestions were for the project to have more green space, affordable housing units and public transit options. Since it was first announced in 2015, the megamall project has faced objections from community groups and the City of Montreal itself over issues such as increased traffic in the area and detrimental effects on the environment. In May a working group proposed 13 recommendations to help alleviate traffic issues. Developer Carbonleo has questioned some of the findings showing the mall complex would cause traffic delays of up to half an hour but management has said they’re open to changes. Among changes that have already been announced are the addition of 6,000 homes, more residential underground parking and a pedestrian bridge linking the development to de la Savane metro. Alix Ruhlmann of citizens group Collectif Notre 15/40 said they are hopeful that Carbonleo will make further alterations to their plan. “We know we’ve already see that Carbonleo has felt the pressure and tried to change the project,” she said. “We haven’t been able to really see the new project but we are seeing that we can have an impact on what they’re proposing.” Carbonleo is scheduled to unveil updated plans for Royalmount in the fall after public consultations finish in coming weeks. The first phase of work is expected to be completed by 2022.
  22. 20-storey condo project would be 'a wall in the middle of campus' says Concordia Student Union Cindy Sherwin, Reporter https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/mobile/20-storey-condo-project-would-be-a-wall-in-the-middle-of-campus-says-concordia-student-union-1.4563388 @CSherwinCTV Published Friday, August 23, 2019 9:45PM EDT The Concordia Student Union is calling on the university and the city to stop a condo project in the midst of the school’s downtown campus, saying the building could squash any last hopes of a student building. “We were speaking to one of our real estate consultants and we asked about this building,” said CSU President Christopher Kalafatidis. “We’re really hoping to get this one and he was like ‘Oh, that’s going to get demolished in a few weeks.’ We freaked out.” The building that currently stands on the corner of Mackay and de Maisonneuve once was home to a restaurant but also rented out space to at least one Concordia club. CSU Internal Coordinator Marin Algattus said student groups have been starved for space, a problem that a dedicated building could solve. “I manage all the clubs on campus and we have clubs living in fire escapes, in closets,” she said. The CSU said that rather than student space, they’ve been told a 20-storey condo building will go up. “This is literally building a wall in the middle of our campus,” said Kalafatidis. The condo project has already been approved by the City of Montreal. City councillor Cathy Wong, who represents the district, was not available for comment. “This really shows that the city really doesn’t care about Concordia students,” said Kalafatidis, who added that he was told the school wanted to buy the land but the deal didn’t work out. With construction not yet started, Kalafatidis said he still hopes Concordia can take action. “Escalate it to the municipal government. That’s where we think we need to go now,” he said. “We know we’re definitely going to do that and we want Concordia University to join us in that endeavor.” When reached for comment, a Concordia spokesperson declined to comment.
  23. Ah ok yes i understand what you mean. I agree with you. It would be key if the projects were tied to each other. I also think its key that the proposed sky bridges to De La Savanne and Namur metros stay in the project as they would help tremendously.
  24. Yes lets build Royalmount and the decarie exchange at the same time. Were flying cars invented? cause that will be the only way people will be able to get to work in the gridlock that will cause.
