Montreal named most elegant city in Canada, Toronto not on the list

You might not associate poutine and orange traffic cones with elegance, but Montreal is Canada’s most elegant city, according to a new global ranking released by the fashion retailer Zalando.

Our fair city ranked 31st overall. Vancouver, the only other Canadian city to make the list, finished 46th.

The short list of 80 cities, which was topped by Paris, was reportedly winnowed down from “a list of 400 cities known for their affiliation with either fashion or architecture.” 

Zalando’s methodology combines various indicators of a city’s status as a fashion capital, a compelling urban environment, and an affordable place for residents to lead an “elegant lifestyle.”

Naturally, the accessibility consideration factors in the cost of such items as theatre tickets and “upmarket table wine.”

Whatever methodological qualms you may have about Zalando’s undertaking, the absence of Toronto from the final list suggests they must have some idea what they’re doing.

La Gazette est pathétique dans son sentiment d'infériorité avec Toronto, juste pathétique, c'est gênant.

En toute honnêteté, ils ne font que rapporter les résultats d'un palmarès international. Techniquement, rien de sensationnaliste à dire ce que le palmarès en question annonce noir sur blanc : Mtl est 1ere au Canada, et Toronto n'est pas sur la liste. Ce sont, basically, des faits.

Je trouve bien pire le pitoyable bias de Toronto dans un article à propos des villes qui misent sur le HQ2 d'Amazon. Ils ne nomment même pas Mtl, ou à peine. Or, on sait que Mtl a la meilleure chance, avec Toronto, au Canada.

I think it is taking it too far!  Because you know, between Toronto and Montreal, they at least have a hockey team!

The Gazette est un vrai torchon. La mission première de ce journal c'est de vomir sur tout ce qui est francophone, c'est de vomir sur tout ce qui se passe au Québec. Tellement déprimant ce torchon !

Les critères me semblent un peu étranges. Toronto n'a pas fait la liste parce que le vin (comme la plupart des autres choses comme les loyers, les billets de hockey, etc.) est plus cher là-bas?
