Montréal pourrait avoir dès l’an prochain sa patinoire sur le Canal-de-Lachine à l’image de celle du Canal Rideau à Ottawa. De passage à Montréal, la ministre responsable de Parcs Canada, Catherine McKenna, assure être favorable à l’aménagement d’une glace sur le canal. «Je viens d’Ottawa où on a une patinoire sur le Canal Rideau. Je sais qu’il y a un intérêt pour en avoir une sur le Canal-de-Lachine et on regarde toujours comment faire», a-t-elle indiqué. Mme McKenna dit attendre les résultats d’analyses effectuées cet hiver pour connaître l’état et la qualité de la glace. Le maire du Sud-Ouest, Benoît Dorais, vise toujours les festivités du 375e de Montréal et du 150e du Canad pour l’inauguration de cette patinoire. «La ministre vient nous confirmer qu’on suit le plan de match et le but c’est toujours de se préparer à la venue de cette glace pour 2017», a-t-il indiqué.

Wait until Griffintown is complete, all streets and sidewalks fixed, landscaping done and parks completed, this neighbourhood will thrive. You’re at 10 mins walk from downtown, 5 mins always from old port, Lachine canal and Notre Dame. Great place to live!! ;)
