  1. Taxes aside, Quebec and Montreal's real estate market (like everything else here) is a Monopoly/Oligopoly of Quebec companies. Too many headaches for major international players. That CAN change, but there's too much lobbying/corruption/kickbacks and red tape in place.
  2. Clearly, this city does not give a S**t about stopping this from happening time and time again.

  4. Good start so far, I still think we should push for art to be incorporated in this area. We need a truly distinct and new vibrant area downtown.
  5. Correct, I can tell you at PVM, a lot of floors have had small spaces renovated for new tenants. 5-10K sq ft, so very small but still something.
  6. Wait to be seen, but I can tell you thay class A office space is where all the action is. Smaller leases but more confidence now.

Published Feb 26, 2024 • Last updated 41 minutes ago • 1 minute read As Quebec works toward a goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, Montreal International says it’s now focusing on projects that are sustainable. Photo by John Mahoney /Montreal Gazette Foreign direct investment into the Montreal area slumped 24 per cent last year as the global economic slowdown accelerated. Quebec’s biggest metropolitan area attracted 87 foreign direct investment projects worth $2.74 billion last year, Montreal International, the city’s non-profit investment promotion agency, said Monday. That’s down from a record 102 projects worth $3.58 billion in 2022. Data released in January by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development show that foreign direct investment flows rose three per cent globally last year. Foreign investment into North America was flat, UNCTAD said. As Quebec works toward a goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, Montreal International says it’s now focusing on projects that are sustainable or that meet essential needs in strategic value chains. Cleantech and environmental services projects set new highs in 2023, the agency said. Cleantech investments hit $643 million, or 24 per cent of the total projects supported by Montreal International last year. Investors include German logistics and shipping company DHL, which picked Montreal to start the electrification of its nationwide vehicle fleet, and Norwegian recycling company Tomra, which acquired equipment to improve recovery processes. Combined, the 87 new investments completed in 2023 led to the creation of 5,983 jobs with a record average annual salary of $97,500, Montreal International said. In 2022, the total was 8,287 positions with an average salary of about $88,000. This story will be updated. ftomesco@postmedia.com
  20. At this point, I'm just ready to scrap the park, demolish/relocate the rides and just make it a new downtown neighbourhood. We have Canada's Wonderland 6H away for entertainment, that's becoming a 365 day destination park anyways
  21. Condor and Gravitor have been removed from the park, the ride purge continues.... Le Monstre is having some re-tracking done, not RMC or GCI track. The CF/SF merger got delayed, but I'm praying that does wonders for the park. If not, it's either the city breaks the lease for new owners, or the park closes and everything gets scrapped.
