  1. Not sure just yet, shopping around first before I narrow it down.
  2. Layoffs in gaming, tech, A.I, other sectors + Bill 96 + the government attacking international and ROC students + a sluggish economy, a housing crisis, crime is spiking again this year. Montreal has essentially been set back about a decade. Started with the covid lockdowns, it has cascaded since, so 4 years of slowdowns on top of everything that is happening with our "leaders" in power. I don't see this city properly recovering until 2030 and I'm even considering leaving. Nothing is happening here anymore, other cities are outperforming us. We need a shake-up asap.
  3. I'm wondering when the LED lights will be turned on again.... And tbh, all the buildings there need some lighting on top, it's too dark and needs a pop.
  4. SRTX Announces New Fully Vertical Global Headquarters in Montreal Canada https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/srtx-announces-new-fully-vertical-global-headquarters-in-montreal-canada-896826688.html
  5. Brivia, Devimco, Brocco, all are in trouble and laid people off... This is why we need to open the market to international developers. Too many of the same players here, once they fail, so do the rest.
  6. Workers on site today, but minimal compared to ususal numbers.
  7. Unbelievable, this city cannot catch a break. Someone needs to perform black magic or something, we're getting decimated.
  8. 170K attendance for the Auto Show, up 14% YoY https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/results-of-the-79th-montreal-international-auto-show-813282715.html
  9. There is a new market coming to Rocca 3, I think owned by wholefoods. Agreed that need more competition, Canada has been too easy on our monopolistic/oligopoly system and it's time to dismantle that. Unfortunately, another layer is a lot of players are still hesitant to enter the Quebec market due to laws, regulations, red tape and our purchasing power declining rapidly.
  10. I'm familiar with the Webhelp account, they struggled financially and recently got acquired by another company, which halted expansion plans here and globally. They still have a presence here, but the 1K figure has yet to happen. I think it eventually will, but over a much longer time. It's also important to note that every city that has promotional agencies for the economy... when they say "we created X amount of jobs" they mean the committment of companies. So every agency, although they do help attract business, do promote committed job creation vs actual job creation.
  11. This one slipped my mind, forgot to post here weeks ago Dehumidified Air Solutions in Ottawa closing, laying off 80: Reports Dehumidified Air Solutions is allegedly closing its Ottawa facility and relocating operations to a location in Montreal, according to employees who have contacted Samfiru Tumarkin LLP’s employment team in Ottawa. https://stlawyers.ca/blog-news/dehumidified-air-solutions-ottawa-closing-reports/
  12. Ax-C (led by ETS) leased 90,000 sq ft in the building.
  13. Mach Group Purchases Montreal Office and Retail Structure From Allied REIT https://www.costar.com/article/1942497970/mach-group-purchases-montreal-office-and-retail-structure-from-allied-reit
  14. Thank the courts for common sense, Northvolt can resume work. Take that, nimbys
  15. 0.4%, wow!!! On fiiiiiire!! 😂
  16. I try really hard to be optimistic, but between extreme nimbys and incompetent governments, it's getting really hard.
  17. This province is such a joke lol, this is why we cannot have nice things. Quebec continues to regress, if not by the government, by a loud handful of nimbys. Québec is dead
  18. Some of my friends were laid off there.... they're obviously not happy, but are flabbergasted by the Quebec government trying to ruin Montreal.
  19. Canada Already In Recession, Hard Landing To Cool Inflation: Oxford Econ https://betterdwelling.com/canada-already-in-recession-hard-landing-to-cool-inflation-oxford-econ/
  20. Not in Quebec and especially in Montreal, been zero growth and contracting growth. Unemployment is closer to 8%, job market is a mix, tight but also hundreds of thousands of missing jobs, hiring freezes, layoffs soaring. Income is not truly up, our purchaisng power is much lower, retail is stagnating. Unfortunately, Quebec has been in a recession since last year. The two quarter definition doesn't matter when growth has been at near zero or at zero for longer. It'll only get worse until it gets better.
  21. Riot games laid off 500+ globally, video game industry is getting decimated. Unfortunately, Montreal will be one of the hardest hit cities in this recession.
  22. No workers on site yesterday, all projects are having slowdowns or no work at all... If people didn't believe it then, or now, this shows we have entered a significant recession. I don't expect any bouceback until mid year, or early next at the worst.
  23. Like you mentioned, supply chain issues but also, projects are always absurdly slow after the holidays. There's lots of work going on the inside, however.
  24. A lot of it came down to ensuring downtown was the centralized area of entertainment and performance halls. Competition is good, however, this project will take away a lot of the high end stuff downtown (short term, nothing permanent). So this agreement was made years ago after talks with officials and lobbyisys to ensure downtown's vitality in this regard.
  25. This has been the case for years now, nothing new (about performance halls). The water park is still planned.
