Sigh... another....

Reducing tax credits will have an even more severe impact. All those years of work and establishing our city as a gaming hub are slowly fading away.

Edit: 70/95 people are Montreal based, brutal...

Every single Jurisdiction in the world has this lol, not only Quebec. We have the talent but fierce competition, therefore need tax credits. I'll take that over zero tax for X years like the U.S

Tax credits are usually done to create a strategic economic sector, not to sustain it forever.

We created it, but if it can't be sustained on its own after two decades... should we really keep it?

Beaucoup de layoff dans le jeu video ce n'est pas que Montreal qui est affecté.

Raison principal les acquisition de studio junior par de gros studios ca donne des restructuration on voit les resultats.

It was done in 1996 to build an ecosystem, which it did. Tax credits have a 600% ROI here, so is it worth it? Yes, does it make us compete with other markets and attract talent? Yes.

Every single industry based in every single Jurisdiction has tax credits or benefits to attract and retain business. London, Toronto, NYC, Miami, Tokyo, etc... you have to compete, it's part of our Neoliberal society.
