Gondola to Mont Royal lookout

I saw this pic of a funicular that opened in 1885 that ran up to the lookout on Mont Royal. I was wondering if anyone thought a new version of this or even a cable car could be installed as a tourist attraction to get people to easily go up and see the mountain from downtown. I’ve taken the one in Barcelona to Montjuïc mountain and it worked really Well giving me a nice view of the city on the way up.

It’s been discussed more than once.

Olmsted hated the “funicular,” as well as the streetcar that came up from the east along what became Camilien-Houde.

IMHO, some form of public conveyance from the Royal Vic area to the lookout would be a positive.
