    Imaginez les touristes qui vont venir l'année prochaine et qui auront hâte de voir les boules....

    C'est comme d'aller à Times Square et soudainement il n'y a plus de billboard, plus de panneaux publicitaires....

    Or they'll see an amazing new artwork they weren't expecting. We have no idea what they're planning for summer 2020 yet but I agree, it's become a Montreal landmark, really sad to see it go.

    Ce n'est effectivement pas un "supertall", mais ça demeure quand même un bel exploit.

    Royal Bank was actually the tallest building in the British Empire, as was Sun Life when it was completed. During the 60s boom, Montreal had taller buildings than Chicago, which is considered the birthplace of the skyscraper.

    Ce w-e , je parlais du Rem avec quelqu'un comme quoi c'était un beau et bon projet pour Mtl :   Il me répond une réponse classique ......le REM....come on...je vais le croire quand je vais le voir.

     

    je lui dit pardon....les travaux sont commencés depuis un an.......:  ses yeux sont devenus ronds comme un chevreuil à la vue de phares automobile...

     

    Le gars savait même pas que le Rem  était en construction depuis 1 an.....

     

    La caisse a knocké tout le monde avec la vitesse de réalisation.....  sans elle......on serait encore très loin d'une pelle mécanique sur le terrain...

    My friend lives right next to the Bois-Franc station and he had never even heard of the REM; I told him it was under construction and he said the same thing: "I'll believe it when I see it"

    I can't tell if it's just human nature, to always have your head in the sand and not be aware of anything until you actually see it in person, or if Montrealers are so beaten down with decades of infrastructure neglect and delays and constant construction that they aren't aware of the city's rebirth and how things have changed?

    Feels nice to save a piece of history.

    Wow what a success! I did not expect such a transformation. 4 years ago this was the ugliest parking lot in the entire city, with a dilapidated historic site from the 19th century. Today, completely renovated with 3 towers behind it and a row of townhouses next to it. Wow!
