Are you seriously arguing that Canderel is failing their condo market in Montreal ? Canderel who is responsible for not one but three 50-storeys condo towers success in Montreal so far ? Looks to me like they know very well what they’re doing.

Do you still think Canderel are doing such a great job with their lots in Montreal? 9_9

Wow.  That fake brick is really bad.  Yikes....

It looks even uglier in person! I couldn't believe how terrible the quality of the materials were, which in my opinion is worse than an awkwardly designed building.

The brick looks like those cheap rubber puzzle pieces you put on a floor in a kids play room or a gym. The color on the prefab panels is already faded and spotted, the gaps between them look crooked  (and I'm not against prefab by default like a lot of users here).

The only positive points is that the ground floor facing the street looks like it will be nice and bright, also the illumination of the tower will be original. So a building best only seen at night!

Eaton Center doesn't have a façade on McGill College.

    Ste-Catherine, or deMaisonneuve or Robert-Bourassa.

And on the west bound was Victoria Street.

It does, it's just a terrible and boring facade. Here it is on Google Maps:

And here is the exact location of the rendering, the garage entrance is right beside the Starbucks:

    A few thoughts ...

    1. A while ago I had heard that someone wanted to turn Phillips Square into a sort of Times Square but they could not get permits ... nevertheless, this was 15 years ago and things have changed ... the east wall of PS would be a good candidate for screens;

    2. Also a good idea would be the Rogers building on McGill college .. it has a solid column down the center that could be screens;

    3. Lastly, the building to be built on the Domtar Park space ... a perfect place where Maisonneuve and President Kennedy split ... would integrate nicely into place des festivals.

I think some screens are overdue and they add a certain dynamism when properly thought out.

Does anyone here know what the legality of such giant screens downtown are?

Hard to disagree with Brocco on this one.... if you've never done a curved curtain wall before, I don't think it's a good idea to start with an emblematic 36-storey office tower.

Side note: some of you guys need to relax lol

Exactly. I don't think architects or builders lack ambition because they prefer to avoid designs that risk defects and cost overruns. IOP Science, an academic physics journal based in the UK, recently published a paper titled "Complexity of Curved Glass Structures".

Researchers reached the conclusion that "[...] there is a need for more research, comprehensive design aids and recommendation for engineering of curved glass structures. [...] curved glass is a material that implies many complex considerations in the early stages of the design process involving glass surfaces concept, geometry, aesthetics, structural and thermal characteristics, selection of geometry of glass elements and glass shaping (bending) techniques."

Just ask the builders of the Walkie-Talkie in London!

Delivery of Roccabella Phase II slated for this spring

    buzz-buzz-1-compressed-1024x768.jpg

Only a handful of units remain in Roccabella Phase II as purchasers prepare to occupy their completed, brand-new condos. Time is running out to reserve a one-, two-, or three-bedroom suite in the de la Montagne Tower. Floorplans are spacious and thoughtfully-designed, ranging in size from 736 to 1,897 square feet — a rarity in the downtown core.

The project, developed by MC Finance, recently received the award for Best Residential High-Rise Development in Canada at the International Property Awards. It comes as no surprise, given Roccabella’s stylish common areas, award-winning pool, high-quality construction and superior interior finishes.

Residences boast floor-to-ceiling windows, Italian kitchen cabinets with wood and lacquer, large rectangular undermount stainless steel sinks, fully integrated SMEG appliances, drawer organizers, marble or quartz countertops, and wood flooring. Walk-in style closets in the master bedrooms are complete with Italian designed built-in organizers, while ensuites boast freestanding oval acrylic bathtubs and separate, two-sided clear glass shower stalls.

Roccabella offers a quiet, serene atmosphere. Short term rentals, including Airbnb, are banned throughout the two-tower condo project, meaning the majority of residents use their condo as a primary residence. The building features over 30,000 square feet of amenity space, with highlights such as a fitness centre, yoga and pilates studio, party room, movie theatre, conference rooms and a sprawling outdoor terrace with BBQ areas.

Conveniently located on René-Lévesque Boulevard West, Roccabella is just a short stroll from the major retailers, tasty eateries and cozy pubs that line Rue Sainte-Catherine and nearby Crescent. Concordia and McGill University are close by, and the Lucien L’Allier metro station is less than five minutes away on foot.

Don’t miss out on your chance to purchase one of the few remaining suites in Roccabella Phase II. Visit the Roccabella sales office at 1059 de la Montagne, suite 250 to reserve your unit. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10am to 7pmand on weekends from noon to 5pm.

"On voit petit", "paresse intellectuelle", "manque d'imagination", "bêtement rectilignes".

Ben oui !  Quand on voit petit, on a WSP et Pomerleau. Cib...

  13. Do we have a thread for this project? I have never heard of this.
