  1. J'invite les membres de ce forum qui en savent plus que moi à ce sujet de nous éclairer un peu sur la création du boulevard de Maisonneuve au centre-ville, merci à l'avance.

Have you read this before? Demolishing Burnside Place to build Boul. de Maisonneuve. You can see the back of 2005-2017 Bishop on the top-right of the second picture.

You can also also see what the area looked like in 1947. They tore down tons of buildings to make way for the metro / Maisonneuve.

  2. There's heavy renovation inside and outside of this beautiful old building which now houses Charcos and Smoke's Poutinerie. Condos? Rental? Who knows. At least it's getting a new life. They did a fair bit of demolition to put in windows (and what I assume will be balconies). Here's what it looked like last summer.

Likely RESO, I'll check it out when I walk back home in a bit.

  4. 2025-2029 Peel (the building to the south of the Marriott) was purchased on 1999/05/03 for $1,190,000 by Spartacus N V (a corporation whose majority shareholder is a holding company registered in Luxembourg called Rolaco Holding S.A., according to the registre des entreprises). I wonder what they are planning, doesn't really make sense as an investment (ie buying and paying taxes for 13+ years and not collecting rent). Is it protected/historically significant?

Thanks for the great info. Well, this is definitely prime land for a condo tower, but it does blow my mind that they'd wait so long. As far as I know there's nothing special about them that will spark public outrage when (not if!) they go down :(

  5. I wonder what's happening with the 2 buildings next door, which have been abandoned for a while and were completely boarded up about 3 weeks ago. Anyone?

They were featured on this Spacing Montreal article not too long ago... I think the sad truth is that unless someone shows up with a lot of money, whoever owns these beauties is just gonna let them rot until the city declares them dangerous.
