Again with a new look for the street furniture? Why don’t they adopt a classic design and stick to it. Same for the festival of street lights - every street is different - looks like a catalogue sale of leftovers. The streets should resemble what is on Mont-Royal (the Mountain, not the street). Cast Iron, Classic, Victorian, cobblestones. I miss the cobblestoned streets of Paper Hill, they made their way up to Hotel Dieu and to streets adjacent to Wegman’s. They were blue!
Valerie Plante has no ideas and she is killing the city. When you see how dirty Montreal has become and how dilapidated it looks with mediocre to cheap buildings all vying to try and be ‘design’ - it breaks my heart to want to just sell and move. It’s not the Montréal I love.- 1

Once the REM operates
perhaps a new era will emerge
-
Ground floor adjacent to the flames will be a huge Italian restaurant “Bambino”
-
I don’t think there will be any connection to this project and downtown.
the area under the elevated highway is a nightmare
Valerie Was all smiles at the announcement for the Kodak session. She makes me sick.

We’re they not supposed to create a park in front of the church?
of course they placed the garage entrance right next to the church. Arghhh!
the stone and iron fence needs to be restored

The city is so filthy. Everywhere, trash. Are there no laws that oblige property owners to maintain the space surrounding their buildings? Since Valerie Plante, the problem appears to be getting worst every year. There is no snow, why can’t they take the opportunity to pass the broom machines, clean the sidewalks, enforce store owners to wash their windows. Montreal had a reputation of being a clean city. No more. It looks and feels abandoned.

Having just walked from Old Montreal to the REM
why not use Place Bonaventure?!

My experience thus far.
the REM is mostly empty when I ride
i travel from Old Montreal to Quartier Dix 30 to see my mom
the walk to Gare Central is horrible - getting in the station is no better, it is a shameful building and experience
once aboard, the views are magnificent, the city should look as good within as it does from afar
Ile des Soeurs is always a no man’s land. They have the most Audi’s per sq meter. Honestly, Bernard Landry would have been a much more profitable station
I guess Panama gets a lot of the rush hour traffic - however, it is no better an experience from what I can see, than the Longueuil Terminus. I would hate to transfer at that station.
once at Quartier, I head to Solar (Where the sun don’t shine) and get greeted to a Starbucks that has been in-the-works for 2 years, and La Cage (which has more wait staff than patrons - I’m not eating yesterday’s rib combo).
can the lady be any louder when she announces what side the doors will open at the next station? How about some AC…

The park should never have had this highway
bring back the lift
one from Jeanne Mance side
and one from Peel street from Sherbrooke St to the lookout
watch more people ride that vs The Rem

The grand boulevard is the best idea. Bring back the funicular. A slide would be a great attraction.

Street level looks terrible. It will create a no man’s land.

Abandoned bunkers. An off-ramp that never was finished. These are what 2 visitors overheard were asking themselves about the concrete installation that were kept.
the park should have been returned to a Victorian style as it was originally. Or similar to Dominion Square.- 2

Tsunami? Séisme? Attaque terroriste? Bombardement? Saccage par les Gilets jaunes?
The area is very upsetting. Why REM did not open/build Bernard Landry station is beyond me. Does CPDQ own PVM? They want more traffic to inflate that empty space? I think the REM will suffer from Gare Centrale.

Walked thru it on my way to REM. It is as empty and sterile as a place Bonaventure.
we need a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in the area!,

A skinny that would extend the height of the top tiers of the tower would be amazing living space. Small floor plates. Superrall and all glass. Top it with the current roof.

Ideal spot for an Ikea

First day - post breakdown report.
The ride and the view are fabulous. Montreal shines. Giving me hope that people will take pride in our city and all that should come with it.
However,
The wayfinding (signage) is horrible. Confusing and much too small.
Montreal's Grand Central (I'm aware this is the CN's responsibility) could have done something to brighten up the cavernous hall, the food court, and the passageways leading in and out.
Having to walk to Central Station will be a deterrent - quickly - they need to open up the both the McGill and the Griffintown stations.
The choice of materials is somewhat similar to a 'B' Category Mall when they decide to renovate. The black tiles on Gare Central's walls are a lost opportunity: Drab - Dark - Depressing. If Montreal is meant to be a "Design City," - it needs to look elsewhere other than Dépot Céramique.
I have an OPUS card. I went to Brossard from Montreal. No problem.
On my way back - the card was declined. I need to get a new card - not rechargeable at the station - nor on the quai at the Grand Central station. You have to go up to the main floor - and find where it is that you are meant to get a new card which allows for A and B. It's a logistics nightmare in the age of Apps and Technology. Really?
Special recommendation: The 747 Bus should arrive directly to Grand Central and avoid Lionel-Groulx as the only connection.
