The Royal Vic is taller, I would say (and on more elevated ground!) If Dinu Bumbaru were consistent, he would want to see it demolished and replaced with a nice grassy lawn. Perhaps someone could grow some flowers. No trees though, the trees WILL hide views.
What I also don't get was his complaint against Le MacKay. Apparently it would hide the view of Place-Ville-Marie from the Canadian Center for Architecture. He takes issue with everything!!
Wow, after reading his description of the Mcgill Stadium I was expecting something MASSIVE...
I wonder how he gets through the day... I mean according to his logic he'd have to crawl everywhere as to not block the view of anything.

Seriously, I don't know why the media gives sooo much attention to him all the time. They give the public the impression that he's some sort of God-like figure...
Like I said before, we need a Heritage Montreal but I just wish they would stick to what they're supposed to (and do it well) aka: protect old things.

Te dire bien honnêtement, mois aussi j'ai pas de problèmes avec ça! Je préfère voir des projet du privé monter et non ceux financer par le gouv.
Une belle entrée en ville pourrait être impressionante!
Pourquoi ne pas vendre quelques terrains a un promoteur prive pour qu'il puisse construire quelque tours a condos (la demande serait surement la)?
Une compagnie comme Concord Pacific (de Vancouver) pourrait etre interesse...
Le reste pourrait etre transformer en place publique avec de belles rangee d'arbres.

Moi non plus. Je l'ai toujours dit, faites une magnifique et majestueuse entrée digne d'une grande métropole, bordée d'arbres, avec la sculpture de Calder pour nous acceuillir.
Les tours, laissez les monter aux abords du boulevard et du bassin Peel.
L'idee est bonne, mais il faudrait rapprocher les deux directions du bouvelard une de l'autre, question de ne pas avois un enorme parc entre les deux (sur les rendus, l'espace occupe par les tours semble immense). Un parc c'est beau, mais ca ne rapporte rien financierement et ca coute une fortune a entretenir au pieds carres .
Contruire des tours va surtout aider a rentabiliser le projet tout en occupant les nouveaux terrains disponible.

Je t'invite à voir le site web de Skyscraperpage pour te rendre compte d'abord que le Blu Rivage sera plus haut, plus grand que les Ports de Mers et le plus haut Port de Mers est de 95 M. Je réitère que sa sera de 100 M.
L'information sur SSP n'est probablement pas exacte. 100 metres pour 26 etages donne un moyenne de 3.9 m par etage, ca me semble beaucoup pour un edifice residentiel...

Alterte au colis suspect
Les policiers de Montréal ont été dépêchés dans un édifice du centre-ville pour une alerte au colis suspect.
Le colis se trouverait dans une poubelle de la tour CIBC au coin des rues Stanley et René-Lévesque. L’immeuble a été évacué tandis que l'accès aux édifices à proximité a été restreint.
Les artificiers du Service de police de la ville de Montréal sont sur les lieux afin de faire les vérifications d'usage.
Un vaste périmètre de sécurité a été érigé. La rue René-Lévesque est fermée à la circulation entre les rues Peel et de La Montagne, ce qui a forcé le détournement de la manifestation du Front commun intersyndical. Les dizaines de milliers d’employés des secteurs public et parapublic ont commencé leur marche 30 minutes plus tard que prévu à cause de cet incident.

Je veux pas avoir l'air d'un vieux chialeux, mais je commence a trouver la situation ridicule; la quantite de grafiti en ville est atroce.
A tous les matins, il y a un nouveau tag sur le magasin Apple, ou le magasin croc, le 4everxxi qui va ouvrir bientot, meme le sun life desfois... faut que la police fasse quelque chose.

And the owners of the Cité Multimédia de Montréal, which handles security for the former dairy, have stepped up patrols and other security measures, she said.

What happened to this building? Even in the photos from 1992 and 1970, there is a awful looking white/grey paneling on the wall facing De Maisonneuve. I've had class in there before. It's quite nice inside.
I'm guessing that it was a side affect of the creation of De Maisonneuve Boulevard? They must have widened the street and sliced part of that building off to make room.
Exactly, the building was disfigured when de Maisonneuve was enlarged.
It's a shame because the Eastern and Western facades are really nice looking.

Man, they really have some start cracking down on graffiti, the situation is getting ridiculous. I'm tired of these "bien-pensants" who defend taggers and claim that "they're just expressing themselves"... they can express themselves in other ways.
Just like blue_dragon, I'm wondering: who does this? Is it pre-teenage kids, gang-members, or older people with psychological problems?
