  1. since when does that mean anything? The CEO of Couche Tard lives in Indiana, doesn't mean their headquarters are there...

     

    It means all of the higher salaries are not here. Same for banks and insurers. Executive officers, senior vps, vps, etc. No corporate decisions are made here.

  2. ben non. Il faut être réaliste quand même! 1.2 million de p² d'espace à bureau, c'est énorme pour Montréal. Sans parler du fait que le 600 Peel aura 3 tours à condos de 35, 38 et 41 étages.

     

    Je penses c'est réaliste sur un horizon de dix années. Reculés 10 ans, quartier Griffintown n'existe pas et les alentours du centre bell sont flats.

    Hoping this is big news.

     

    Hard to tell at this point.

     

    But... Amazon is a 300B dollar company and the leader in cloud computing, ahead of Google and Microsoft. And it only has four locations in the US which currently serve their entire demand. So you'd have to take this as positive imo.

     

    As for job creation. Data centers are generally filled with massive computers that do the cloud computing, so not much need for human capital. I guess we'll see.
