  1. Some of the arguments referred to by Mr. Robinson go back more than 50 years. The majority of Anglos of today and for the last 25 years do not fit the definition that Mr. Robinson refers to. On the contrary, most Anglos and especially their off spring are very fluent in the French language. They are mostly very respectful of their place when they chose to remain in Quebec and learn the French language. They also made sure that their children would be fluent in French. The problem is that their efforts and dedication to learn French is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We will never be French as you can never be English. But We, as You, have learned each other's language. We can communicate and be respectful with each other. Now what is wrong with that? Of course their are Always exceptions on both sides. We are also all Individuals. We are all different. Language is for communication with each other. The more we know the better. Mr. Robinson states... "When I moved to Japan, I quickly discovered that almost nobody spoke English, and that in order to function, I would have to learn Japanese — and fast, which I did." The Anglos learned the French language but I would like to ask Mr. Robinson if the "Office of the Japanese language" exists in Japan? Has he been told that he speaks "Japglish"? Mr. Robinson also states..."Take some of my classes and move to Japan, where there is a severe shortage of English teachers; I promise there are no French speakers there to hound you." From this quote I sense that The Japanese feel that it very important to learn English. Would this be because English is the world language of business? If this is true then would it not also be good for all French Quebecers to be Allowed and encouraged to learn English. If learning English is good for the Japanese and most of the world why is it taboo for the French Quebecer to learn English? The Reality is that the English language is the language of the world. This is a fact. The Quebec Anglos, just by chance, speak English. The majority have also out of respect for their neighbour, have learned their language. French. What more can you ask from someone? The Reality of today is not the Reality of 50 years ago. Let's move on.
