3- 701 McGill College (Magil Laurentian)

Ce sont les trois projets qui ont le plus de chance de voir le jour, et je crois que la PdlCI phase 2 a les plus grosses chances, car le stationnement sous-terrain, ainsi que les fondations sont déjà faites!

    Did you mean 701 University?

  2. They would not be put on the street, just moved to a location that is not in such high demand. More people who work downtown should live downtown; it makes sense in every aspect of sustainable development. The invisible hand of the economy should be allowed to do its job. I live in mainland Verdun where there is lots of room to build nice HLM, near parks and shops and services.

  3. Je crois que c'est un des deux morceaux manquants pour faire le lien entre le centre ville et le village.

Le quartier des spectacles ne va pas assez à l'est à mon gout.

If you look at the map on page marked '3' of the PDF (actually page 7 of the document), the area targeted is a sub-area of the QDS.

  4. Nobody has really mentioned this, but I think an important reason for leaving New York is that the buildings the UN currently occupy will be turning 60 years old in 2010. How long will the UN wait before moving, 2020, 2030? By then, the buildings will be 80 years old. As mentioned earlier, the logistics of a move would take years to plan and carry out, so now is the time to at least start scoping out new locations. And since US-UN relations are not great, why stay in the US? The closest big Canadian city is Montreal, so presto! it's all coming together.

  5. McGill University has about 33,000 students and nearly 10,000 employees. Parking on campus is at a premium (and is soon to be even more scarce) and a lot of students and staff are commuters. I believe that if McGill University goes ahead with the proposed underground connections to McGill metro station, then the next logical step would be to have the train stop there too. By that logic, I would say the same thing for UdeM and Edouard Montpetit metro station.

  6. Does anybody know why there is an Italian flag flying outside the hotel? I walked by today and I noticed that the flags were up (in typical New York fashion, above the main lobby entrance, at a 45 degree angle to the building). I noticed that although the building seems to be complete, it seems cold; it lacks the warmth of the entrance to, say, the intercontinental. I think it's because there is no wood anywhere; there's just cement and steel and glass.
